Does anyone know if the DVD based nav system in the 2003 will play movies? Do any current Nav systems do this?

A friend had his 7 series BMW able to see TV while driving thru his nav system. He had a chip from Germany that allowed it.

The stock system will not let you play movies, but there is a company that makes a system that will allow you to do so. I would post the link, but I never bookmarked it, because the system was almost $2k by the time you add all the options, shipping, etc. It would be cheaper to put in a really cool aftermarket sytem with surround sound. If I find the company info. I'll post back.

Best regards,

J.

Of course, it's illegal in about 25 states (and more expected soon) to install television screens that can be seen by the driver. Recent article on this in USA Today. Apparently DVD/TV/etc. is popular with hip hop customizers.

IMO, better to keep your eyes on the road and that huge SUV drifting into your lane

That would kick with the camera options... Sort of like the old concept Banshee car...

As a gadget for shows I guess that would be cool but God I don't want to see those on the road. It's bad enough where I am with people being distracted by talking on their phones, give them TV's and I'm parking my MINI and taking the bus!

That's very, very, scary. These things go in the navigation system screen...something that's specifically designed to be viewed by the DRIVER! I'm with wainair -- I can't share the road with drivers distracted by TVs.
