I just got a file from him on Monday. It took a little over a week. Franz tends to take lots of vacations. Suspect he's catching up. Those are the files you needed to post on his web site.
I tried emailing them to him about a month ago and never heard anything back... but the web posting worked. He got hit with a virus some time ago by doing the email thing. Since then he created the web posting tool.

Do I need to change the "Engine R50 with Siemens EMS 2K" setting in Cartune? That is the value it comes up with after pressing the ID button.

How big are the .org and .mim files meant to be? mine are 60kb and 1kb.
Also, does it matter that it IDs my car as a R50 when a Cooper S is supposed to be R53?

By default, MTH bumps up the rev limiter. I asked for mine to be set at 7000RPM, but Franz had been setting them to about 7200. The ASC/DSC is also affected: reduced sensitivity and reduced bogginess when it kicks in. I used to turn my DSC off 'til I got MTH. Now it works beautifully.
dyno soon
I am waiting (3w now) for madness to deliver my header, etc. Once it is here, my pre dyno will tell me my jump due to MTH, so I will post as well as my after with header, etc. I will not put on my new MTH until I get home and then re post once I dyno later on.

.You must send your *.mim file back to Franz so he can put one's cartune unique code into that file. I guess mine got overlooked.

. Franz had me send it to him, then he sent it right back within an hour.
Chip reprogram
For those who have had MTH redo their ecu for a 2nd or 3rd time, have you sent him the same original file back? Or do you download a fresh new file from your ecu to send him?I'm thinking of getting the cvt tranny mod and changing the gas octane.

I've done 4 updates. Each time, I send Franz the *.org & *.mim that I originally downloaded. I don't know why you couldn't send him your current modded file and asking him to add CVT mod. Should work. If he wants the original, I'm sure he'll ask for it.
MTH original and revised loading
I got the Sensolutions mono-usb cable and it worked fine for downloading on a 600 mhz sony viao running Win ME. We'll se how it goes when I get the files to upload.
For those who wanted to convert back to the original settings, can it be done without first sending files back to Franz for revision, as preceding posts said they had to do?
Does anyone know how much of the power increase is attributable to the leaning/enriching of the a/f mix and how much from the ignition timing?
El Rojo was taking names for persons interested in the APEX-I system at the recent dyno day in La Habra. My thoughts are that some caution should be used before that signal modifier is piled on top of a revised ECU program. Looking at the dyno charts, though, it seems that the MTH does not really lean the a/f very much as the charts show less than 10:1 at 4500 or more rpm.
If the power really comes from advancing the timing, won't further leaning out of the a/f result in knocking and the retarding of the ignition?

Well, it' has been a week and no word. I PM'd AlexN and no response there too. Makes me feel uneasy about this whole MTH matter since there's really no way of contacting whoever should the ECU get messed up in the process. How hard is it to just upload the .org file should revised program stall or corrupt the ECU programming?

I sent my files last Friday, and still haven't gotten anything back. Sure hope he hurries up.
BTW - I keep seeing reference to *.mim files, but when I did my download I got *.zip and *.org. Could this be a problem? The *.zip has info about my car in it, but the field that is "key =" is blank. Did I somehow not get the keycode entered?

Just got an email from Franz, files back and he requested, "[size=2]Have a lot of joy with this and give me a feedback of my new 2005 files, please ;-)"

Try sending it again. I sent for the first time 8 days ago and didn't get anything. I sent a second time 4 days later, and got it back to day. The message he replied to was the second send, so I am guessing the first wasn't successful. The response message is in German, so I have no idea what it means.
BTW - I just uploaded the file to my car, and was impressed. Smooth power band and improved throttle response. Worth the $$$.

But now my laptop does not recognize the Mon0-usb adaptor and does not ID my car so I can't upload the files.**@#? wtf.
I fixed the mon-usp cable by defragging and deleting a few files. The C: drive was to full I think.
I emailed Franz about the bad authorization code. He sent a link to his site that allowed me to generate one free authorization code. It is 9 numbers.
Review: less power, less DSC intrusion, no yoyo. When the 39.2 factory ecu program went on, I sensed immediate power increase. Not so with MTH. Maybe the "trim" adjustments spoken about will kick in and give me more power. Time will tell.
