In addition, I also used the CMOS setting to force USB 1.x and then USB 2.0...still no dice; same "echo missing" stuff. I've just sent Sascha an email and hope that I can get a working cable in short order.

My '04 is doing great. The power is not only increased, but much smoother. There's a registry to find others with compatible cables on CooperSpeed.com. It's a bit bare right now though.

 

I've been through 3 upgraded flashes with Franz, each to either address an upgrade or to richen up a flat spot in the rpm band. I can flash fine between my *****.MTH flashes. I wanted to put in my factory program to sort of return to base line and reassess. I choose to load the original ****.org file, it loads, but when I upload, the program returns an invalid key code error and refuses to upload. Is this something I should address with MTH, or am I doing something wrong? Thx!

I am going to try and get to Richard's and see if his interface box works for me. If so, I will be sending the broken one back to Sacha for replacement. I didn't realize that others had problems with their interfaces, maybe I should have just gone with the serial cable option. Anyway, I'm sure once that gets sorted out that I will be a happy camper again.

Going to go pick up my car from the dealer now. It was in for warranty work and the recall for the breather hose. This is the second trip for a failed passenger window, hope they get it right this time.

I waited less than 24 hours for my first file back in August, and two weeks this last time in January.

 

My first Jan update was less than 18 hours. My Feb update was 2 hrs

 

So, am I reading this right? When I upgrade to new mods, all I have to do is email him my info and he will upgrade my ecu for free through email? I will buy this thing today if that's the case.

 

I bought back in August, and got my latest update in January. Alex said updates were free, and so far that's been the case.

 

Yes you read right, but this is only when your pay 57euro or approx $75USD for use of his MTH Cartune software. Yes you provide your mods and he delivers an ECU update for "free". Like I said I have done 2 so far. I will do another next week after my header/catback is install. Then in about a month when I get my Endyn head/runners/SC install. So that will be 4 ECU updates in about 5 months.

You don't "email" you use his website to upload your files. He emails a file back and his Cartun software loads the file.

 

Where do you get yearly from?

 

I think he means a one-time fee.

I have a little probleme with Sasha OBD Cable (http://www.obd-interface.de/pages/mt...rface_eng.html).
In fact, i haven't download MTH Cartune software because my mini will go to dealer soon.
So i wanted to try my cable with OBD software before buy and install MTH file.
But OBD software which i downloaded (like ScanTool,etc..) not seems works.
They all says "No connection"....

So, Does Sasha MTH cable works with another OBD software than MTH.
Someone could send me a demo version of CarTune? A version without Key code just for try connection with my car.

That's what Alex had implied originally. Later there was talk of $75/year, but it wasn't clarified if that was speculation, or what Franz was going to do. I'd buy with the assumption that it's a yearly deal, but an extra bonus if it's lifetime. Either way, the MTH created mapping doesn't expire - only the update service would.

It's still a good deal in my view, considering the cost. The downside being that it's pretty much a user supported community, and you assume the risk of flashing your own vehicle. Having said that, I'm extremely happy with the purchase and the continued updates (in the 8 months since I purchased).

Another NAM member and I have both downloaded a program called "Car Code" (www.odb-2.com) and tried it with this cable. It didn't work. Maybe the shareware version is locked? I don't know. I can tell you the pin-out for the ODB plug is correct on this cable. Only 4 of the pins are used, and this cable has pins in the correct holes.

The software is pretty cheap and comes with its own cables - worth considering if you are shopping for a data logger, code reader, code reset tool.

i finally buy software, and my cable is ok with CarTune MTH.
I try all another OBD soft, only VAG Scan recognize my car.
But nothing to do with this soft, it is for VW car!

How long i need to wait for having my new files from Frantz?

Can someone help me with this problem?

I can ID the car alright. But when I click the download from car (car icon with arrow pointing down) button, the download screen does not appear and after about a minute i get the following error.

"Read_EMS2K
Please, select the correct car electronics !"

Do I need to change the "Engine R50 with Siemens EMS 2K" setting in Cartune? That is the value it comes up with after pressing the ID button.

I'm in Australia. The car is a mini cooper S built in May 04. And I'm using the Sensolution MONO-COM cable.

 

Now I can't find it, but I thought I got if off his site or off the discontinued NAM and mini2 sites. Since I can't find it I will strike out yearly in the thread above. Just know I read it somewhere...

 

About 24hours, unless Franz is on vacation, then it can be as long as a couple of weeks.

 

I hope not but hey for that kind of $$ it wouldnt kill any of us plus I think I have did all the Mods I am going to do to the engine for a long time and I had him send me Stock, and the rest of my mods in single loads also so I can go back and change it anytime.

I uploaded my two files, .mim and .org extensions on his web browser and I haven't heard back from him in 48 hours...
