It is not in my .mim (there is a "KEY =" line that is blank)
And it is not in my emails...

anybody got any idea where they are getting this power/torque from,
from what ive heard the rad cooling fan kicks in a lot earlier even when driving, is the power gained from the coolant keeping the block cooler?
whats the chances of damage to the fan from being continously on?
just some food for thought.

I emailed volker my files in order to make an upgrade to my existing files and he answered me that my files were far short (60kb) and need to be 120kb so 1 hour ago i identified my car and downloaded my existing file to send it to him and after that i tried to start the car and oh surprise! It doesnt start! I tied everything rewrite my data, read it again, verify, and i get the same message: select the correct electronics.
What can i do??

Anyone had this problem?
Hi guys,
I been reading the MTH threads for quite a while and recently contacted MTH to purchase a new map, with confidence thanks to all the informative posts I seen on this site and Mini2.
After uploading the new MTH file to my mini I did the ECU reset (details at bottom of post) which many people have advised, so that the ECU would re-learn my driving style, hopefully getting a little more benefit from my MTH remap.
Everything went very smoothly, and the car is running very well, except for one small thing my Air Conditioning has stopped working
. When I press the Air Con switch the light doesn't even come on, and the air is NOT cooled.

It looks like I'll have to go grovelling to my local Mini Dealear, but would appreciate any ideas you guys may have.

Have you tried to restore your original file (the one you sent to MTH) and then checking the AC again?
If it still doesn't work after restoring the original file, then you need not worry about MTH being an influence.
If it does work after the original file is restored, then I would try loading the MTH file once more to see if that is what triggered the event.
Perhaps MTH can add some wisdom here...

I re-installed the original MTH file, and still no AirCon so that pretty much rules out MTH.
The steps I used to reset the ECU, are detailed at the foot of the email. Although, Volkner at MTH informs me that this procedures will not reset the ECU.
I'll call the dealer today and hope that he'll show some sympathy.

Reset procedure used:
1) With the key in the off position press and hold the speedo reset button, turn the key to position one and the screen will say test and a number.
2) Go through the list by pressing the reset button upto test 19 and then wait.
3) The display should then say"log i-off" then "log i-on" over and over again....when "log i- off" appears again press the reset button ....and now you are in the system software.
4) Scroll upto 21.0 Software reset. When reset appears press the button again and you will get a beep and you're speedo needle may vibrate a little (this is normal).
5) Turn ignition off then back on to position 2 for 10 secs then start your car and hey presto its done.

Theres really nothing to reset.....These car are adapative to the way the cars being driven. Even if you "cleared" the DME its goin to drive the same way it did b4.

The system is always adjusting itself everytime you drive the car. There is no reason to clear anything.

Does MTH adjust change the adaptability of the ECU? I was at the track last friday and after a day of 14mpg driving I filled up for the drive home. The mileage range came up at under 200 miles with a full tank. 100 miles later it was at 300. It never did that before.

From my experience milage seems to get a little better after a hard day at the track, does not last long after a couple of days its back to its old habits.
I should explain: normally when I fill up and reset trip computer and take off on a long highway drive like say from NY to D.C. the trip computer will average say 32 MPG, but on the way home from the track after a fillup it will average 35 to 36 MPG on the way home.
I know it's somewhere in this thread but I'll ask anyway. With the tuner file I notice that the revs drop faster at the low rpms..sort of like a normal car. I can't remember if there was any technical term for it.
The ecu is still learning my driving habits but so far the drivable has improved and I don't seem to have to step on the gas as hard when I am in 6th gear on the freeway. I think the next step is a pulley.

I've got a question guys. I've been fiddling around all day but i can't get the Cartune to work with my car.
I think i've selected the right com-port (com-port 4 in my case) and i've downloaded the OBD-driver for the USB cable.
When i select the "ID" button there is something happening and after 20 seconds or so, it says:
---------------
CarIdentBtn
car electronics 000000 is unknown
---------------
What am i doing wrong?!?
Cheers,
Peter

Peter,
I had the same problem. Try to uninstall the drivers and plug the wire into a different usb port and re-install the drivers. After I did that it worked fine. It wouldn't work with the usb ports on the back, but I had one on the side that worked. I hope this helps you! -- Johan
