it's almost that time of the year..................OctCloverfest at the Dragon

 

I hear the dragon is very overrated

 

yes i've heard the same thing, but like i said in the "overrated thread" i'm only going down to Dragon for the good company i keep when i'm there

 

Where do you keep them, kool?

 

I was gonna try to make my 1st ever Fall run to that overrated place this year but dangit I don't think I am going to be able to fit it in my schedule so you guys will have to make an extra run for me

 

in the glovebox, it's air conditioned ya know.....it stays very kool in there

 

it's only a 4 hour drive for you from AL..................do it to it (even if it's for only a day trip)

 

I wish more people would understand this.

 

I told Clover I'd try to get there but not to count on me...just a really busy Octclover in the works.

 

It's OctCloverFest! YAY!!!! Well, anyone wanting to join in the fun fall frolics, come on down!!!

 

When are you all going. I'll be up there Oct. 25-29 in my Mini-Van (now cut the laughing out now )

 

I thought the Dragon was sometime in May

 

The Dragon is there 24/7/365. . . but a lot of MINI's gather there in the beginning of May. . .

At other times of the year, smaller groups make the pilgrimage for Summertime Slayers and Fall of the Dragon and numerous other non-events. . .

FOTD is just MINI folks getting together for a casual good time. . . no registration packets, no t-shirts, no door prizes, no planned events, no nothing but good times. . .

I think I might just try to come up for this one, kool. . . .

 

October 28 is our 3rd annual haunted MINI drive in and around Gatlinburg.
Come over and have dinner at the haunted Greenbrier Restaurant with us if you have time.

I'll be traveling from Atlanta to Nashville on the 22/23 ohhh Via "The Dragon" MINI-less but hopefully in a Sky ....

 

I've been on my motorcycle about 4 times - loved it each time. I wouldn't call it overrated @ all. In fact, we're heading down in the Mini the weekend of Sept 22nd - Sept 24th! :-D

 

The Dragon is just a silly overrated curvy road

 

Calling the Dragon overated is like saying that the MINI is just another car!

Is it true that the dragon is more dangerous in the fall because of all the leaves? I have been advised to avoid it because of that.
I want to come. We went there for the first time in May and loved it, can't wait to go back, but do have concerns about the road for the mini and if we can make it, the hubby will have to bring the motorcycle again .

 

^^^^^^i would be more worried about the leaves on the road in Nov or if it's raining
but whatever leaves that are on the road pretty much are stuck to the grill of the person behind me
but the changing kolor of the leaves is one of the reasons we're drawn to that area in the fall

 

Early in the morning, especially if it has rained, the leaves do make a wet slimy layer, but that gets removed rather quickly by traffic as the sun comes up and warms the road.

Just take it a little bit easy (especially on a motorcycle) early in the morning and you'll not have any problems. With fewer people on the roads and pleasant daytime temperatures, late October is perhaps one of the very best times to drive the dragon!

Definitely don't cancel a trip because of some falling leaves. . . .

edit: I'm usually the one with my grill covered with koolmini's leaves!

Here is a picture of those leaves from the first FOTD! My MINI used to look like that???

You can see in this mid-morning photo that the road is generally clear of debris.

 

Yeah it does look clean. Thanks, I have always wanted to go in the fall, but have never made it, maybe this year.
