No wasn’t bidding just watching, i like to see a lot of action at the end, but there wasn’t any lol. I’ve only had one yellow TR6, looked great for that car, but generally not a fan. It look great on the JCW. I woulda ended up getting some black aero grilles on there, few other visual tweaks and I’d be happy at $11.8

Hahaha. So true. Yellow is my least favorite color though. The winning bidder had to see my post for $11.8k. That’s just way to strange.
Yeah, that was an odd number you picked, and you nailed it. Your GP2 has been conquered, the thrill of the chase for a Gen1 JCW must be so frustrating, I’m sure you’ll find the right one in time. You’re lucky to be in the right position to wait and strike when your boxes have been checked. Many don’t have the patience to play this game, you don’t know how hard it is to find a good one...until you start looking. I originally wanted an R53 JCW because of the performance, and huge fun factor, not realizing how rare they are getting to be.
The chase for a r53 JCW is getting frustrating. I know I may have to compromise on a few options or the color of the car, but I know if I don’t get a super clean car or one that’s not a JCW, I won’t be as happy with it.

Same thing I got when I nailed the last one at $19.5k, maybe we should brainstorm some lottery picks lol. Bought my JCW sept 18th with 52,830 miles. Put it in storage today with 52,998, hope I didn’t wear stuff out with all the miles I put on so far lol.
Ugh, you guys found the rebuildable JCW in Bedford. I have been eyeballing that thing for days. Its 4 hours away but my driveway is full of MINI's and I have a ongoing project in the garage. If I had a place to put it I would buy it for a parts car at least. I may call and see what its problem is. Since it isnt listed as a lot driver I assume it doesnt start.
If you're referring to the flooded BRG, I'm curious to hear your report. I'd probably ****** that up in a quick second if it was on the left coast...
They cleaned up and moved it indoors for pics. I have found another local car that I will probably buy so I wont have any space for this. Just wondering why it doesnt run. If its simple then it could be a good deal. If it flooded the cabin then not so much ....
Any clean low mileage r52/r53 isn’t going to a good deal lol. I haven’t seen anything in the past few weeks. All of them must be hiding since they know I’m looking. 🤦♂️
To @JackMac, since I'm searching for another pristine example late 1st gen / late 2nd gen MINI S or JCW, I checked out that online retail listing in Portland. Looks like might be a good one however I'll continue looking more local to me by private party with documented history. Several I've seen online lately seem might have been scooped up (perhaps wholesale auctions) with questionable originality and provenance. A few R58/R59 amongst those, yet any 2nd gen would need to be N18 engine with no need for further comment on that aspect. In the end, the R53/R56 "shoebox" hatchback styling still most appeals, harkening back to late 60's classic MCS (still have the 1968 sales brochure obtained way back then, framed and hanging in my garage).
So my search continues, yet I did want to complement you on your very well done videos showcasing your own MINI cars!

Indeed, most of what the deals are these days are "beater status" and any well-kept example will come at a premium, especially if low mileage.
I haven't seen much on offer out there lately either.
Although it can be painfully frustrating, sometimes whenever things slow down and I want a fix for the browse obsession, I'll look at various EU venues to see what's happenin' over there.
Can learn things too, like I never knew they made an R53 Challenge edition --- it only appears to be an appearance package though,
still pretty neat to see:
To those who continue to look for pristine examples all I have to say is do not give up hope. Earlier this year I sold my 25,000 mile mint example of R53 (MY 2005) chili red with white slick top equipped with cold weather package for $8500. I wanted her to go to a good home and asked for 9200. He said he would buy it for 8500. I bet I could have gotten more but I know he appreciates the car and will take good care of it.
PLENTY of "Good deals" or even excellent deals on this thread !
Some have 130k-miles, some have a faded interior ... but, other than the BAT cars on here... I've seen value in MOST of the cars presented in this thread.
Plenty in just the last couple of months on this threads that were stellar cars for the money asked.
Are they Barn-Find Steals of legend? ... NOPE... not one of them have I seen in this thread.
IMO... these super nice minis in the sub $10k range are getting overlooked or have disparaging comments because they don't fit into the rarified-air of an Hermitically-sealed time-capusule with all the rare options and accessories that all the 'collectors' want... I love that great thread on that PW R53 JCW on these very forums... up in Canada... that is getting 'enthusiast love' poured all over it... and he's not wrapped up into "return on investment' thoughts... just pure passion for the car.
