It’s the effort... I can understand that ...
AllMag always seems to have sets of the related parts in anthracite in cherry condition for sale at reasonable cost .. they know how to remove parts, provide photos and package them properly for shipment.
Seats, headliner and the bolt on ‘aftermarket’ Aero ... all easy
color, miles, not so much
build it, put on the blizzaks and drive those 4000 miles a year 🤙
.
i like your can do attitude. Aftermarket skirts or rear bumper available? English leather seats do pop up online, but another thing to chase down (I’ll be after them). Pretty sure he’d have to chase down the dark pillar covers to go with the headliner. Don’t forget brakes, won’t need blizzaks though lol.
Aftermarket in that all the Aero were... never designed by Stephenson... originally designed and mfg contracted through JCWG and sold through dealers ... like the Ohlins hanging on the wall at my local dealer for sale.
I see that the Aero-Kits are popular with many people ... but not part of the original design of the car.
My understanding is that prior to acquisition of JCWG by BMW ... the warranty on these parts were not covered by BMW ... but rather through the dealer and JCWG agreements... and that the addition of the JCW ‘kit’ by an authorized dealer did not void the warranty on the rest of the car.
Some MINI drivers or collectors are purists about condition or mileage... I’m more about the design, especially the exterior of the car and bolt on ‘goodies’ . For me, strictly IMO, the JCWG parts appear the same as other brands like Prior, Duel etc that look spiffy on the cars.
Splitting hairs... probably ... but most of this thread is doing that... and one of the things that makes it cool to me 😎

Honestly, after diving into the aero “look”, Aside from the front honeycomb aero grilles, it’s the side skirts that seem to bring the biggest part of the body panels (side view) lower to the ground visually. If I didn’t already start hoarding bumpers, I might’ve just gone with skirts and aero hood and modded upper bumper grille on the S bumper. Too late now lol.
I agree on the side skirts... for me ... they do look good painted in the proportions of things.
Stevensons original designs had the rockers painted I believe ... and were probably nixed by the bean counters at MINI 🤣
Faux components like the hood scoops after the supercharged cars ... or the ‘rear brake ducts” on the side panels kinda tick me off... the pinnacle is those ‘grilles’ on the R52/3 rear bumpers... kinda hokey IMO .
since they are readily available ... I will probably play with a used set and try the look of a painted standard rocker/skirt next spring when I have the hood/scoop/bumper into the the painter ...and take Krawz lead and have some refugee dash panels and card circles painted in body color too!!
fun to play with these ‘modular’ bits 😁 As all things can be put back to original
lol, those stick on grilles for the rear, definitely cheesy, they end up melting off, but look empty without something in there. there are metal mesh inserts available, but not in honeycomb pattern. honeycomb sheets are available, i could get all krawz on it and 3D print a frame (surround) and get a perfect match to the aero grille. then mass produce and sell them, bet i could make a few bucks. by few, i mean $2 lol.
This relates to my former R56 only, however I purchased and installed OEM JCW side scuttles for mine. Not to replicate JCW "look" but instead, 'cus those better complement MCS front/rear black "honeycomb" grilles than chromed plastic "S" scuttles. Just now checked email receipt from 4.5 yrs ago, with same eBay OEM dealer still listing those $125 shipped. If I buy another R-series non-JCW, those plus OEM JCW catback "silencer" will certainly follow.
THIS one ... 211 hp with that airbox if running right ??
if near me would be my ultimate winter thrasher ... plenty of hatches and bumpers in matching black to be had for under $200... a rattle can of duplicolor... those Steelies and blizzaks look fun !!
Then 2” lift spacers and crappy new Megan coilovers I got on CL sitting on the shelf for two years..
From what I've learned, the power mirrors were never offered in the US and retrofitting involves a lot of electrical work (I tried sourcing a set of power mirrors from out of country and found out it would be a $1000 or more endeavor for all to the required parts).
On the topic of anthracite headliner retrofits, ALLMAG has them for R56s and has had them for R53s in the past. It may be worth calling Andrew or Dustin at ALLMAG and getting "on the list" for a R53 swap set.

Found out the hard way I didn’t have folding mirrors when I went to pull my 65” wide mini into a storage space with a 63” opening...doh!
@krawzdogg Possible R52? Need to find out all the specs, but leaves you with plenty of budget to make perfect for your needs. Not too far from you?
That towing setup is a little goofy, but probably reversible.
2008 LOTSC JCW r52 Sidewalk edition $8,000 · Cataula, GA 31804 Last of the supercharged #38/100
Cabrio Sidewalk edition
62k miles
JCW package
New brakes rotors (front)
Set up and wired for towing behind RV (blue ox)
Everything works but the infamous amp issue keeps the HK radio from having sound.
There is no option for book value on this particular model.
Thanks but I don’t want a r52. I’ve passed on a lot of nice r52 JCWs. The search continues....🙄
In your Looking to Buy thread, you said you've been tempted by a few R52s so I thought this might still be a possibility.
So, R52s are definitely out now?
Here's mine from several weeks ago. Bonnet stripes are now gone, paint correction, central locking fixed, new front speakers, accessory input, rattle elimination in process. But very, very clean. Fresh tires, front brakes, new radiator and fan. It was always garaged, and rarely driven. Plenty of service records. Power steering pump warranty done.
I was looking for something much cheaper, and the first day I saw this, I passed- I figured it'd be gone in 60 seconds if the 41k mileage number was true.
TWO DAYS later, the car was still up. I figured it was calling me. Drove up, had a look, closed the deal (less than listing price) and now the source- the foundation- of my addiction.

I was tempted by a few of them since they were so nice, but a r52 isn’t exactly what I am looking for.

So ...Ya’all... let’s see pics of your MINI (or your favorite one) ... has to be YOUR Mini ..
did you get it as a ‘deal on CL’ (or FB etc)??
I just got my first mini a few months ago. Wasn't a deal on CL, it was actually a deal from this site! Maybe not quite up to krawz standards, but it was perfect for me! Loving it so far and really looking forward to driving it some more.
