It was never actually listed for sale. He had commented on a "looking for..." thread (similar to the one you have on the new marketplace) saying that he was thinking of selling his. So I pmd him, exchanged a whole bunch of emails and ended up going for it and having it shipped to me in IL. So far so good!
Adding Part Finds
So like many here, I’ve tripped and fallen down the used/aftermarket parts rabbit hole, and it’s pretty deep. Great thing about the MINI, especially for the purist that love the thrill of the supercharged R53, is there’s almost no end to what you can change/add to these little buggers. I mostly go after original stuff, but it depends on what it is. After spending over 2 years just looking for the car only, once found, I started looking for some of the cool OEM options (I’m sure this part is very familiar to you) my car was missing. First thing I snagged was the dual pod gauge cluster for lower center dash with the original VDOs for $75, which I find was a pretty good deal. Now I have a room full of aero bumpers.
It only got worse from there. I’ve probably got 200 bookmarks for miscellaneous parts new and used, and 100 (research, info, diagrams etc.) bookmarks., with no end in sight.
I had an idea of adding both CL and FB etc. hits for used R53 parts to this thread to have more members add new found gems. Especially Aero and JCW stuff. We all know how difficult it is to find some of this stuff, and it will only get harder for both the cars and the parts. Believe it or not, there are quite a few cars, and many more parts, owned by people who aren’t even here on this site. Either through mental laziness, or just don’t frequent the internet, so when they want to sell something, the easy way is CL. I think that’s where most of the true deals are, a large percentage of sellers are unaware of the value, or they just want to unload the easiest way possible.
So this might be a good way to really keep this thread loaded with fresh posts of R53 cars and bits found online. Maybe a simple 2-3 words about the main or most valued parts in the listing.
I will post the link to this find, after I decide what I’m buying from it, it has both aero stuff and track stuff in the lot. Sorry to make you wait, but you know how it is
Anyway, so if anyone thinks it’s a good idea, or wants to post any good parts found, with Burleys blessing, let’s motor.

4k-Mile 2006 Mini Cooper S JCW GP
Just sold for $45K on BaT (the same car with same mileage sold 15 months ago on BaT for $36K). Wow.
@krawzdogg I don't suppose you are "Nico2015" are you?

^^^ Likewise, watched that auction to the end. Check out the cars (and winning prices) that buyer paid on BaT previously. High end collector -or- high end boutique dealer. Maybe will check in here but seems unlikely...

OR... Buys it... Takes it to the mini specialist to have all the necessary things tended to for a 15 year old car... and DRIVES THE PIZZ OUT OF IT !!! (thats what I WANT to think)
Because...
Outside of looking at a 10-mile example of a car like this in a BMW museum somewhere... this car has no value to me over my 100k-mile JCW.

You will find it if you can wait... and willing to pay for a PPI in a location possibly on the other side of the country...and safe transport from there to you.
It IS a 'needle in a haystack'... but with these first Gen MINI's.... there are a lot of haystacks.
Otherwise you post a drop-dead offer with ALL of your must-have, AND must-NOT-have criteria on it... do all of the PPI/Transport arrangements in advance.... and don't feel bad that someone is selling you their pride and joy... because they will take that money and get what they want with it.
Needless to say... you have options... you just need to choose the one you can happily take.
Let us know when you find it... and post up a photo !!
.
Then, contrary to what you said above, it IS actually about the money to a large degree. ... right??
Even though the way you take care of the car and will only put on max of 30K-miles by 2031 will still leave it in the investement category as you won't 'drive the pizz' out of any JCW you buy for even say $15k??

Im not willing to wait much longer. Already been looking for 6-7 months. I wanted to have some time to clean it up and go over it before the spring when I planned on driving it a lot and going to MOTD.
As of right now the list is getting shorter. Basically just the things which are really hard to change.
Factory 2006 JCW
Low Mileage
Anthracite Headliner
Honestly anything other than that is easily changeable. Seats, Aero Kit, etc. I’m not opposed to paying top dollar for the right car. Find me a 06 JCW in Pepper White or BRG, anthracite headliner, aero kit, English leather, JCW steering wheel, less than 30k miles...no problem paying $20k for it if not more.

But why the low mile then if you are willing to drive it....... Dump $10k into one at 90-110k miles... clutch, harmonic, mounts, bushings, cooling, supercharger, factory-upholstry on driver seat and a top notch detail/ceramic... .... and you will have a GEM that you are not reluctant to drive to the Piggly-Wiggly
For what you profess to be your "DD" ... that will fit the bill well, give you all the must haves besides the mileage... and cost a whole lot less.
I can understand the 'allure' (bragging rights etc) of a low mile car though it seems counter to your stated true intent/purpose of this 'ride'.

But it is a RARE-Car indeed.... that meets all of your criteria... and is a REAL rare find.... compared to most peoples needs.
I doubt it is a $15k or even $20k car that meets ALL.... more of a 'collectors item' that you may feel guilty for bottoming out on a hidden pothole or the guy that puts a ding in your car when you are picking up your carry-out

Mechanical stuff.... even a new engine and a complete front suspension is not too costly on these cars, in your price range...
plenty of cosmetically babied cars with higher miles than you want.
For me, I'd settle for higher miles since if I drove it and kept it (and not cared about resale/ROI)... than give up the other important items on a "must list"
.
