Shop near Colorado Springs?

Anyone know of a good shop that can install powerflex Control Arm bushings for me in Colorado Springs? I prefer to do my own work but without access to a lift or at the very least a garage, I'd much rather not do this one on my own at my apartment parking lot.

I've done mine and helped with a few others, these are real pain without a lift.

Give Import Auto Technicians a call: http://www.localtopshop.net/

I know they have done at least one set for a member. I'd be sitting down when you get a quote (from anywhere).....

Bryan - did you remove the subframe or just drop it a few inches? I'm thinking about picking up the pre-pressed bushing to make it a bit easier. I've read of people taking the bracket out without even removing the ball joints although I'm a bit perplexed in understanding how they were able to slide the bushing back over the control arm as it seems to need a lot of load just to slide back in.

I was able to find a shop called scrperformance in Loveland.

Nope, didn't drop the subframe, and it still sucked! I did the Powerflex
bushings on mine and pressed the old ones out in place. I made (rigged)
a custom pressing tool to get the old ones out. That tool didn't survive the
ordeal. Going with the pre-pressed in units is a good way to go. Plus you will
not run the risk of snapping off the tab on the housing (right Mike..).

Thanks TRav.

Miniconcarne, did your install "suck" because you had to pry out and press the bushing or was it just difficult to get to the bracket? I was under the impression that the install would be significantly easier with the pre-pressed bushings. I'll most likely end up doing this myself rather than having a shop install them. So far, the quote I got is $300. Would rather drop the subframe for that.

This is one of many reasons I do all my own work!!

Evasive; There is a wealth of information on this and other forums about how-to's.

Don't be afraid to search and ask questions.

T-rav; By the way, once you start to Mod, it's hard to stop

and because I did it on jack stands and it took me a full weekend. But well worth it.

When are you planning on doing this? I'm a gluton for punishment and am willing to help.

I read pretty much all of the tips and instructions out there but none is clear on how to do it with the pre-pressed. I'm trying to avoid having to do unecessary work

I might actually wait until this summer now that I think about this whole thing...just moved to Colorado and stuck in this crummy apartment. My lease ends in June and planning to move to a house with a garage then. Good thing is, the car is purely a weekend toy car for me so I can take my time and leave the car on jack stands as long as I need it to. I like doing my own work too and was only going to go with a shop since I didn't have a garage. I'll just have to deal with the wretched twitch when braking.

I, like you, enjoy turning wrenches so when I get my garage, everyone is welcome to use it for a DIY day. I used to be very involved in the VW community and founded the VW chapter in Louisville, KY. We've established a pretty good community there and the enthusiast community has grown exponentially since it started. I can talk cars all day long!
