The MINI5280 Ride to Anywhere

I'm getting cabin-fever and feel the need to motor.
Anybody up for a ride the weekend of January 24th?
We could make it the Snowball II with a few miles and a lunch or perhaps something else.
North, South, East or West - let's take advantage of the low (stupid low) gas prices and get out of the house.
Suggestions?

Go into Red Feather Lakes? West of Ft. Collins.

Somebody just needs to slap a route together and propose a starting time and place. If you post it, we will come!
I will advertise and post in the calendar.
A few miles in the MINI is good - a few miles in the MINI with some fellow MINIs is great!

We cut our own Christmas tree in Red Feather Lakes and got lost on the way. I don't think I should plan a route.

We can have Vicki plan the route and me lead it so we can all get lost!
Remember - if you're following me then we are both going the wrong way.

That's right... I can voucher for him...
Speaking from a personal experience during the Children's Hospital Charity: We were supposed to meet everyone else at Children's hospital by Lone Tree, we ended up at the Skyridge on I-25 and Lincoln. It was a lonely experience... an empty parking lot with only 1 MINI...(I drove a SUV that day)

anyhoo, count me in... time to take it out for a spin...

Poudre Canon (CO 14) is nice in the summer, don't know how it is in the winter. There may be a place to get something to eat up the canon, but winter is slow in those parts.

It is twisty road with few straight sections.

One of our favorite roads Bob! It is pretty treacherous during the winter, but we will be doing the Wide Wound Walden trip closer to spring and have lunch in the bustling berg of Walden. Be sure to watch for that one.

Now to retort Mr. Suoo's story - As I remember it he followed me and by past experience and my explicit declaration, he knew I was going to the wrong place. What is worse driving to the wrong place or following someone who you know is going to the wrong place?

And Vicki, if we don't start a ride from a Starbucks we run the risk of loosing their corporate sponsorship, my huge retention fee and various perks and privileges bestowed upon your president.

OK so I put an event in the club calendar:

For a chance to get out of the house and get those MINIs back on the road - we're having a ride to anywhere. Anywhere but here that is!
So sign-up now sight unseen (have a little faith) and we will put together a route, let you know the starting location, time and duration.
Then all you have to do is show up and not worry your pretty little heads with all the yucky details.
There will be lunch and we will stay within 1 or 2 degrees latitude of Denver.
nuff said.

Now start throwing in more ideas and sign-up on the calendar whilst I put ye route together.

Peak to Peak Hwy(Co 119,Co 72) in the winter? They look cool.

Cool? Heck they are down right cold! (a little winter humor) Consider them on the consider-list Mr. MINI with Meat.

I'm signed up and have faith...Poudre Canyon in the warmer weather in a Mini will be fun. I've only done it in my jeep, and it leans a lot in the curves!

A loop up Clear Creek Canyon over Peak to Peak to Nederland and down Boulder Canyon would be fun, if the roads are clear...plenaty of choices for eats along the way.

We may spook the Ned Heads with all the Minis!

A beautiful route

Plus one for the Peak to Peak to Nederland and down Boulder Canyon. We were there this fall and the view was breathtaking... Well, as long as the road is clear, I will be going anywhere.... even following a topless Matilda will be fun too... cuz I know he will be stopping by a Starbucks to collect his perks sooner or later..

Hey guys, if'n there's a ride headed north along the peak to peak route, I'd suggest stopping for food at the Wondervu Cafe. They've got good mexican food there, and in my book that's always a plus. Some of you will remember we stopped in briefly on our Summer Solstace Run. The only think I can't do is vouch for the canyon route in wintertime.

Oh, and I'll talk to my lady and see if we can crash this party.

You can't crash a party that you've been invited to Jacob. It would be nice to have you and Christine along for the ride.

PtoP

We have run Peak to Peak in a light snow. It was not bad. I did it on my Falken 912s, anyone with snow tires or A/S should be good.

I would suggest a run from up North via Loveland, South, then a later lunch in Ned or as Jacob suggests Wonder Vu for some good food.

Anyone working a route, yet?

I'm putting all the suggestions in a big pot and stirring.
Expect a route sheet on or before 1/24 (I will let you know the starting location before that though).

+1 for Nederland! There is a great BBQ / brewery up here right in town. Boulder canyon is kept very clean in the winter since it's the only way up...so we should be good unless it is dumping snow...

Perhaps up to Ned for lunch, the north to Estes Park (a nice scenic drive past Longs Peak)?

So this is what I've come up with so far.
A Ft. Collins start, Highway 14, Masonville, P2P, Nederland & Jacob's WonderVu café for a late lunch. About 200 miles if you start and end at the same place. I would imagine the southern crew would peal-off after lunch.
Here's a Google route: Anywhere
What do you think?
Meet in Ft. Collins around 9:00 AM and lunch at 1:00 PM?

Next month - Going Down South Ride

Nice route, some of the Louisville folks could start off from Cinos, then hit Ft. Collins by 9AM.

I suspect I would peal off around Louisville after lunch versus going back up to Ft. Collins, but that is just me.
