Well anyone can get a new SC from MINI (with the fin coating) for $4-$5K dollars....
However, it will not have the standard JCW 11.4% reduction SC Pulley this one has...
But most folks would prob opt to have the 11.4% JCW pulley replaced with a WMW 15% or 16% SC pulley anyways...
Less the supercharger... and without its just half the hp/ fun LOL
I dint know why they made them so dang expensive. its not a rocket science technology!
Yes sans the Supercharger....But its a whole engine, long block really because it comes with everything else....And Sprintex makes a nice SC at half the price, and its more efficient while also lacking the drawbacks of the stock one....
What Im saying is that I just don't understand the logic on how MINIUSA is pricing some of the 1st Gen parts......which at this point they should be making more of an effort to get these parts off the shelves to make room for 3rd and 4th Gen MINI's...."storage real estate" is costly for car manufacturers....
For iinstance.....the flip lid ash trays for 1st Gen. The ones which drop into the front 1st gen cup holders....they went from $36.00 each to $230.00 each ?! $230.00 for a freaking ash tray in time when nobody smokes ? What are they smoking ? It goes against everything one is taught about supply / demand.
The xenon headlights went from $300.00 each to over $600.00 each.....Granted there are more 1st Gen on the road than 2nd Gen but I'm also seeing large quantity of R53's which didn't go to the shredder being parted out.....
Then there's the GP intercoolers....Just the intercooler, not including the cover or two brackets costs over $2,000.00 now ?!?! It was only $350.00 4-5 yrs ago....
I am on the dame page with you, $230 for a f... ashtray is insane...
supercharger... well, i dont get that pricing either. roots blowers are not rocket science. but it is what it is... i had the chance of getting two in germany and bought em, one is now for sale here. new is way different than “overhauled” as 1. eaton never released spare parts and therefore 2. all refurbs rely on “old” moving parts. well, that works too, but some (like me) want new and here is one of em ;-)
soooo... whoever wants it, shoot me a pm and i am glad to discuss reasonable offers (of course less than mini asks)...

I totally agree about the absurdity of the insane price hikes --- add cabrio braces to the list, and probably other examples, plus more likely coming.
The ashtray example you cited tho - JAYSUS! - friggin' ridiculous.
I'd go far as to say it is a hostile action.
Their pricing strategy is a bizarro world of inverted logic and creates the opposite of goodwill,
in fact it creates animosity.
They seemingly want to punish enthusiast patrons for keeping the older cars on the road.
Isn't it good for the brand to have older MINI's out there running around and well-maintained?
I'd think so but apparently they don't value such a thing.

Thanks for listing it.
Just wish I was more flush with funds but at the moment I'm on the rebound curve.
