These were on our Countryman's (R60) at MOTD 2015, and a lot of interest.

A lot of people wanted to buy them, as I made them myself they were not available for purchase. I will bringing them to MOTD 2016 to purchase. The retail material for one plate cost $75 -$100 if you wanted to make one. Each State varies on the laws of license plate cover. Any plate cover or covering of the state "North Carolina" state writing is ( plate frame) is illegal in NC. Mount at your own risk. Just Note, I have these on four of our MINIs since MOTD 2015. Never pulled, no incidents, no issues. I have some material to make these available. First three Pics no cover, the second three pics have the treated plastic cover installed.

It's a piece of treated plastic sheet, I would recommend that it is sandwiched, with a license plate frame, depending on the frame you have or decide to use, the treated plastic sheet may need to be trimmed, with some scissors.

***It's not sprayed, the can of spray paint was used to paint the silver screws black. For those wondering ***

LOL, so it's a frame or black plastic cover to the plate making license plate unreadable....not sure I understand the point of this other than L.E.O issue.

Well, Different points of view,
LEOs, Blackout/ De-chrome (Goth) "Style", cool/kool/kewl or being different,
It's not for everyone, just as modded minis are not everyone's cup of tea.

 

Fairly certain in every state, F/R license plates must be visible from 50' so not really a different point of view. Been like that since they have been made from leather...lol.

I can see this black out plate mod for a MINI in a static car show though. Looks nice.

This would work well on speed & red light cameras!! You need to find out if it will work with those cameras. it seems your pics work only on an angle. If you get shot with a camera will it work?
