Custom 6.5" LCD/touch R56 nav

Category: Navigation & Audio
Price: $100
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): R56
Location (Region): SouthEast
Item Condition: Used

This is a custom 6.5" touch screen mounted into a nav speedometer from a r56. The orange leds were replaced with white leds and the gas meter leds with blue. It's a project I was working on but I ran out of time and can't finish it. I couldn't get the speedometer portion to work but everything else works fine. I have read of others who have done this and got it working. If someone takes over the project and has a working speedometer.. The LEDs and the LCD works fine and can be mounted to any other housing easily. You will need a system to run the LCD/touchscreen. It works with Windows based systems and raspberry pi. It will not work with Android. The screen works with a vga or hdmi connection and can automatically switch to av2 for a backup camera. This can be really nice if completed successfully. I'm asking for $100 shipped but I'll listen to all offers.

You seem to be the right person for me to ask the following question: Is it possible to perform a direct swap from a OEM sttandard speedo to OEM Navigation+Speedo(like your pic) on a '13 R56?

I researched on this topic, but, I could not find a definitive answer :(

Bump for your sale!

I'm interested, what did you use to run the screen? A RasPi?

Thanks for the bump. As far as doing an OEM swap I can imagine it requires alot of parts and possibly reprogramming from the dealer. I think I did look into it once but the price of it all was the turn off.

I honestly didn't know much about what was going on with Android and the car pc scene. I went with a Windows system to run centrafuse.

I used a windows tablet I had with a broken screen. I detached the LCD cable inside of the tablet and used the HDMI out port. I then ran a 12v cable to the tablet under the front passenger side carpet. The tablet was configured to hibernate when no power was present. Worked out pretty good. I repurposed the tablet for a kids pc but broken screen Windows tablets are all over eBay cheap. The rasPi is also a great option and was my original idea.

If you're interested send me an offer.

It can be done but the Nav hardware is expensive if you buy from MINI, and if you don't you have to pay a dealer to have it paired with your car.

The pre-LCI systems are much easier to retrofit Nav.

Thanks for the bump. I sent them to a friend of mine so I don't know which led's he used.

This is still available.. someone buy it before I turn my toilet into an entertainment center.

Yes every light works just fine. When you first connect it you can hear the speedo motor adjust itself but it won't work because it needs to be programmed.
