Is the grill badge holder just the ring to secure the badge or is it the entire set up?

 

Its the metal plate or base as you will that you secure to the grill in order to put a badge on the grill. There is no ring with it. Most badges are usually magnetized so that they wont just fall off. I know some holders do have rings as an extra measure. I hope I clarified things.
