Cracked windshield

Going to work yesterday, following a pickup with a trailor loaded with steel something came off the trailor and hit my windshield. When I got to work I checked and found a small chip..8 hours later I come out and there's a six inch crack ....I live in Concord, NC and does anyone recommend any place to have it replaced besides MINI. I'm covered by insurance so nothing out of pocket..

Too bad you didnt see who owned the pick-up with the trailer. Then you could have made them pay for the windshield.

Unfortunately I was running late and they frown on being late...It didn't crack it on impact or I might have chased them down...I like your TR6...I was stationed in the UK in the late 60s to early 70s and got a 71 TR6, I wish I still had it...great car...I also had a 1071 Cooper ...didn't stop worth a darn but ran like the clappers...

LarryJ Your insurance company will recommend a glass company to use. You should be able to find several with a internet search or yellow pages. Glass shops are a specialty and it is usually all they do. If you take your car to a Dealer most likely they will outsource the work to the glass specialty shop and add a % for themselves. Some shops will even come to your home or office. Should not have a problem finding 2 or 3 shops in the area.

Regarding the truck, they would never pay. You cannot prove it was their fault unless you happened to have a video camera running at the time that caught the event. I am an insurance agent and one time told a claimant we would pay because my insured called and said it was his fault. I received a call from the carrier and said "do not do that again" because the claimant can not prove what happened

talked to Hendricks MINI today they need the car for 3 DAYS, for windshield replacement. They say with the sealants they use the car needs to set for 24hours not moving for a cure time...plus they have all the hardware for the pillar covers if they break...has anyone had any experience with any other glass place around Charlotte

I also have 05 and replaced windshield 3 times. The Insurance company normally wants a windshield place to do the work. I highly recommend against it. The clips that hold it in alsways break and if you don't replace them with new ones several months down the road your panels will fly off and you are really in a mess. I have not only seen this but have heard of others. I highly recommend the dealership, they have the right equipment and take the time to do it right. You can get one in a couple of hours but glue hasn't set, did they replace the clips, if not they will try to glue them together to make them work, why because that extra couple hundred comes off their profit! They do not price the clips til they break and when they find ou the cost, they try to glue or just stick them back in and cover them up. Just a suggestion and if you have any questions email me. Luke

I just replaced mine. Hendricks wanted over a grand, Registers auto glass did it for $330 with new A-Pillars. Make sure you get new A-Pillars! They come with clips

Wow! It must be catching! I got in my car today to drive up to the store and there is a 9 - 10 inch crack at the lower corner on the passenger side. Fortunately the dealer said it was a stress crack, no dings, so the warranty will cover replacement.
