Columbia Meet & Eat 8 August
maybe yes
Greetings all!
I didn't think I would be able to join you all this time
However, there is now a chance I can make it. I'll know for sure by tomorrow afternoon. My fates seem to be tied to the success of the church's softball team.
Susan, on the off chance I can make it, pick out a Starbucks
and give me a street address.
Regards,

Thought I'd get a head count. If you're on this list and can't make it now, please let me know ... and vice versa, of course. Working on maps now ...

Starbucks at 6 pm? Those who can join us at Starbucks, please do. We'll motor over to the restaurant just before 7 pm. It's less than a mile away:

Looking forward to meeting you.
We'll miss ya. BTW, got my Light in Sight yest. Finally! Exactly where did you place yours? Dead center on driver's side or over a little, toward the rear view mirror?
Don't worry MBM, I'll be there representing the young folks too.
and in consideration of the head count, there's a good chance that I will be accompanied by someone, so consider me to be spencer (2).

FINAL
OK - It's official (as of 8/6/08 2pm) looks like I'm out for this one
The scheduling gods have been playing with me all week but I probably will not make this one - waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I WILL however be at the beach next week. Lynda and I are going down Thursday after work - should be there in time for dinner. Anybody who gets there before Saturday - give me a call on the cell 704-619-6299 and maybe we can hook up for dinner, breakfast Friday - whatever. See everybody at the beach. I hate to miss good German food - ach der Lieber!

Too bad, Steve. We'll miss you. Catch you next weekend ...
Reminder! Julia's takes only cash and local checks. They don't take reservations, per se, but I will call them later today to give them a heads up. Hopefully, we can sit at adjacent tables, but I can't confirm that.
See y'all tom.!

Well have a good group of young people. Im 19 so I may be the youngest.
Art I saw that too. The princeton review rated Clemson #1 in Happiest students, and I can believe it.
Thanks for all the well wishes. Hopefully I will be able to attend a few meets before christmas, but with the way our football team is looking I am hoping to be watching them alot

, is a great school. I may be a die hard Gamecock but i applied to clemsons engineering program first and thats where i wanted to go, but since i didnt get in it was either Auburn or USC; so i went with what felt right. Im sure you'll love it up there, really pretty, but also full of country folk, but hey taint nuttin wrong wit that
I will be transfering there soon to finish my degree, so i guess im kindof a traitor...oh well. Good luck though This is gonna be nice, and im glad there are people around my age.
Cant wait
Update: Called Julia's yest. To reconfirm, they don't take reservations, but will try to seat us together--no promises, tho. Looks like about 10 of us ...
I have a copy of their menu and will bring with me to Starbucks.
REMINDER! They take cash and local checks only.
See y'all later

Yeah, I'm looking forward to some more glamorous mini pics. That was a fun little get-together. We should plan a trip out to Monetta sometime and go to the drive-in theater. I'll try to keep my eyes peeled for a good double feature or something.
It was great meeting you guys tonight.
It was great meeting you guys tonight.
Odds and ends from last night:
Flaming shifter ****. I can't see having anything else, but that's just me.
Police Interceptor badge. Easy to order
I love my Euro parcel shelf. If you've got an R53 or other pre-07 Mini, you may be able to dig one up. Part numbers are here. It's an easy DIY project. Great places to stash the sunglasses or spare ammo.
I tend to order parts from the guys in Fresno, Custom Mini Shop. I think I started with Strut Tower plate thingies (M7) from them when the car was still on order. Having bought my Mini while stationed in Germany, it made a difference to me that they went out of their way to support the troops. Great guys, active on NAM, and the stuff they ship got to us in Germany in amazingly little time.
I miss the autobahn. Every day, I miss it. Post Hawaii, I need to go back - not for me, but for my Mini. She deserves it. Left to my own devices, I could have made it home soooooo much faster than I did last night -- a hundred miles in an hour isn't unreasonable, is it?
I did two great Mini things this year -- running the ring, and Minis in the Alps. I'll be heading up to the Dragon for Labor Day, mainly so I can listen to Blimey drone on and on about how great he thinks the Dragon is, and so I can remind him that, well, I've driven the Alps.
I send him the link to this video about once a week. I know that this makes me a jerk, but if you know Paul, you'll probably see that this is his kind of humor.
And if you've never seen the 'Ring, well, I'll offer up two videos. Below is a YouTube one, and here's one that I have secretly hidden on my own server. It's Rob (91Eunos) driving -- he's a regular there -- and Henry (WP4LDU) filming. It's from one of our NAM 'Ring days.
Good meeting you all. And good food. Hopefully I'll see some of you on the Dragon at the end of this month!
