R50/53 Flameball - Three Color Illuminated Flaming Shifter Knob
Flameball - Three Color Illuminated Flaming Shifter ****
I'm sure it has a more official name that that, but it's better than "flaming ****" that I usually call it.
Yes, I have a flaming ****. It was one of the first mods I did to my R53 when I took delivery. Popped the stock one off (and now use it as a paperweight), slid the new one on, and then I just tucked the wires into the shifter boot.

It's got a decent enough shape to it and is very conformable in the hand. It has a nice, solid feel to it. And it's smooth, which I like.
This weekend, when I was in the area doing other electrical work, I got around the hooking up the wires.
I have no idea why I waited so long. The cool factor went up exponentially. It went from being a nice shifter **** to a wow.

When hooking in the wires, I went in to the cigarette lighter under the radio. I used pinch connectors that did not require me to cut into the wires or splice -- line up the wires, align them in their slots, pinch close, and then clasped close. A little electrical tape around the finished deal, and it was time to tuck it all away and put the console back together.
Worth $76 plus shipping? Dunno. I really do like it. I've not run into another Mini with one, and it does have a nice wow factor and a great feel for driving.

OK, I was ready to visit this thread and my brain was saying "well, that's gonna be nasty, and I haven't eaten breakfast yet, which is probably good, given the likely outcome..."
But...
I really like it. Really looks good!
