Nurburgring this weekend...
Looks like they have the track booked pretty much all day on Saturday...and Sunday is my son's 10th Birthday--kinda need to be there for that!
I may be able to swing getting him a Jahr Karte for his birthday and take him and the fam up there...we'll see!
Here's the link to the page I use to check when it's open: http://www.nuerburgring.de/events.10.0.html

i wish you safe passage and a great day
i would expect that the Mini would top out in 6th in the last few miles of that course, would I be wrong?

Here's a GE file with the key locations for the 'Ring. From the B258, turn south onto K20, go through the underpass, around to the T intersection and then right onto the L93. Take the third exit on the roundabout and you'll be at the webcam entry. After the roundabout, the main parking is to the right and the ticket booth is there. On the left is the restaurant and restrooms. When I went, there was no one there and parking was easy. As I get close, I'll try to call ya'll to coordinate linkup. See ya'll there!
Cheers!!

OK looks like I have a kitchen pass for the morning! I put the CAI in today too... Now my car's as loud as yours Henry!
However, I tried to put my summer tires on (New Dunlop Z1s) and found that the rims I got esentially for free when I bought 2 sets of tires won't work. They need the thin wall "tuner" lugs to clear the holes and none of mine will work. Ironically I have a couple sets back in the 'States w/my Miata.
So now I have to decide if the wx will be clear enough to just mount my SSRs w/ shaved V700s or the craptaculous run-flat all season tires on the stock rims.
Good news is that I have a new set of black SSRs on the way for next week...I'll put the Z1s off the other rims and try to sell them.
Speaking of that...
Anyone need a set of 16x7" Kazera rims? They're drilled for 4x100mm and 4x114.3mm.
I also have a brand new (still wrapped from the Tire Rack) set of 215/50ZR-16 BFG KDWs if anyone wants to buy them cheap.

BTW, I'll depart K-Town at 0630ish to get there right at 0800 when they open. I'll likely buy a Jahr Karte even though I'm deploying in July--it'll be motivation to get my 60 laps in to break even on the cost before I deploy!
Mebbe I'll work it so I ride along w/y'all w/the transponder to open the gate and point out the lines if one of you buys me lunch at that steak joint there in the village.

Also, the nearest Esso is in Kruft (coming up from the South)... I think it's either the last or next to last exit before you get to the top of the hill and take teh exit to get to the Nurburgring.
I usually stop there and top off and that gives me ~ 10 laps on the 'Ring. I usually have to get a splash at the station there by the track to get back to the Esso to top off for the drive home.
See y'all there!

Fine, fine day.
The biggest fans of the day? Easily these two:

That's right -- listen up non-believers, I took my kids out on the track. When the track was wet. And it was raining.
And you know what? They loved it. Heck, I loved it. We had a ball. Call me a bad parent all you want -- I'd do it again in a heart beat.

Left to right, that's 91, Nick, WP4LDU, mine, and Poppa Bear. All that was missing was an orange one, I think.
We all headed out for a first lap together, with 91 leading the pack (he has an annual pass and does insane amounts of laps, so he went slow and showed us a good line).
When we got back, though, WP4LDU offered Poppa Bear some constructive criticism of his driving -- reinforced with a metal rod. Nice touch -- helps in making your point.

Things got crowded as the morning grew late. We were forced to do some combat Mini parking at one point.

Speaking of parking, here's mine and Henry's cars, side by side. I just put on the German brake lights, on the left.

It blinks yellow.
And here's me, as happy as a clam. I was very excited to be there, but I photoshopped that out.

We need to sneak in another day at the track, before we go.....

More cowbell, ladies....
