OE Mini - that breaks free, and you have a real mess.

i went with the Exedy SMF kit back before the insane price hike

was swayed in favor of it over the Valeo by @pnwr53s & his report/reviews
flywheel slightly lighter than Valeo
good pic of the Exedy throwout bearing in this post;

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4351932

i think most of them are of the same type,
that chintzy plastic

this is the absolute best solution for our crappy throwouts that i've seen,
from RMW

So how do you like the Exedy release bearing now that it’s installed in your Mini ?

Detroit Tuning lists arp bolts that should work with a single mass flywheel. They are a bit pricey, but I ordered some as I'm also doing the Valeo kit.

Edit: Link - https://detroittuned.com/arp-flywhee...g7MIr5FF17hZIA

Summit racing had them a little bit cheaper.

2nd edit: If you reach out to Valeo support, they should be able to tell you the bolt size. I think it's an m10-1pitch but I never got confirmation if it's 20-24 in length. If you do find some in that size range, just make sure you get the right hardness. 10.9 or higher.

no complaints

does what it's supposed to do

just worried about lifespan longevity & wish that we had an upgraded aftermarket option

something similar to this one by OS Giken:

the Exedy one is pretty much a facsimile of the OE unit

but hey, my OE unit lasted up until 160,000 miles!

so partially my fault for not addressing it sooner

when it gave up the ghost, pretty much had just disintegrated:

luckily it didn't explode,
there's a couple of reports here on NAM of such . . .

. . . & one instance where shrapnel at velocity smashed through the bell-housing !!!

Jep mine has exploded in 2021 and punched a hole in the bell housing. Luckily I found a guy being able to weld it for just $50.

I looked this up on RealOem , your right about 48 mm but, appears to be for twin mass flywheels.

Turner lists the Valeo bolt specs

looks almost the same as this Febi bolt:

which is essentially a VW part # N90206103

blue threadlock instead of red though

unsure of thread pitch though so that may throw a curveball

hope this might help
