r53 clutch selection (would like a stiffer pedal feel)

I have a 2006 R53 cooper JCW which needs a new clutch, and I dislike how soft the stock clutch is. I dont want to spend the large amount of money on a OSGiken or EXCEDY. I was looking into a ACT clutch but I have no idea how the pedal feel is.

You're in the wrong place, put your thread in the gen 1 (R53) section.

did someone already put a single mass clutch like valeo in it? I found the stock clutch pretty heavy

I agree with mega72. I put a aftermarket clutch in one of my celica alltrac (Clutchmasters stage 3) and it was even softer then the stocker so not sure if you are going to find a clutch with even heavier feel?

I've actually installed several ACT clutches and it is a bit stiffer than the stock, but not where it's too hard. But like with all aftermarket race style clutches they will lock up quick. So pulling away from stops isn't as smooth as a stock or Valeo would be. But also with the lighter flywheel the car will rev much faster.

We also have had good feedback on the SB clutch, but not enough experience to say good or bad yet.

Exedy clutch kit

In addition to the racing clutch kit, Exedy makes an excellent clutch kit similar to Valeo. Its flywheel is slightly lighter than Valeo with a more conventional shape. Price wise is very close to the Valeo.

here is the part number (I paid much less)

My installation.
My reflection of it many months later having used it on track and on street.
