URGENT: Rattle noise when clutch pedal pushed IN - throwout bearing?

Many threads I've read here state the opposite issue: that there is a rattling that goes away when you push the clutch pedal IN.

In my case the rattle (with open hood it sounds like marbles in a plastic box with a squeak occasionally) happens ONLY when the pedal is pushed in. It goes away when you release the pedal and are just idling, not in gear.

Pedal feels jaggedy, and a little squishier than normal. Shifting into gear works but is not smooth. All started happening within the last 15 minutes of driving. Car is now parked for the last day.

So.... is this still the throwout bearing I've read about? (And, is the carrier bearing the same thing?)

2006 MCS. 150K, original clutch, engine, tranny.

BRAKE fluid is good, unfortunately. Initially was hoping this was just hydraulics and would need a brake line bleed but the fluid is not low.

Thanks much. I'm going to probably need a tow. :-(

You can give the slave a look for fluid leaks, but if you have clattering noises that also sound like marbles chances are that you are on the verge of bearing failure and a fantastic explosion of clutch components.

At 150k miles I'd say you got your moneys worth out of it anyway, I'd recommend starting look into a clutch. Especially if your pedal feel has changed, gear changes are getting harder, and the throw out bearing sounds like a bag of marbles.

Welcome to NAM, would love to see some pix of your R53. Have you sorted out the rattle yet?
