The TPMS system said it was inactive. I hit reset & it tried to boot the system several times, to no avail. So I swapped out the controller unit in the bumper. Same error, but now when I hit Reset, nothing. It goes right back to asking me if I want to reset.
Front brake wear light came on. Turns out the wire to the sensor was snapped. Swapped the pads & rotors out. Put an (aftermarket) sensor on. Went to rest the code with my OBDII reader but it was greyed out. Got an OEM sensor & installed it. Code is no longer greyed out. Reset it twice but the bloody front brake wear light is still on.
I had to replace the TPMS sensor under the bumper and I thought I had to code it for the car to recognize it correctly. I believe I was getting interference from the aftermarket Carplay Andream radio I put in. For the pad wear sensor I believe its literally a loop of wire thats it. Using a multimeter make sure there is continuity between the pins at the white connector. I had one that was bad as well.
Regarding CBS (Condition Bases Service) items, I find even ISTA+ sometimes struggles to reset the service intervals on BMW/MINI and I have to resort to using the instrument cluster manual method. Have you tried the below (from MINI training literature):
Resetting the Service Operations
When one or more service operations have been carried out, like front brake pads have been changed,
these operations must be reset to their full service interval.
There are two options for resetting the service operations:
1. Legally required service operations such as the vehicle inspection (HU) and exhaust emission
inspection (AU) can only be reset in the "Service" menu.
2. All vehicle servicing service functions such as changing spark plugs are reset via the reset
button for the trip distance recorder in the instrument cluster. If the reset button is pressed for
longer than ten seconds, the reset mode opens automatically.
"Reset?" is displayed in the lower display window.
In the upper display window, the CBS symbol , e.g. for "engine oil service overdue" will be
displayed.
Press the reset button until the time/distance dependent displays in the lower display window are
replaced with dashes.
Reset is no longer possible once 80 percent of the interval has expired. A reset lock will be shown
in the display with "OK".
Better instructions and pictures are in your "Service and Warranty Information" guide that may/may not be stored with your owner's manual.
@BlazingE60 you forgot the third option for resetting the service options. Just keep a written record in a logbook (I have one for each car in the family) and just ignore the light on the dash. If you can't do that, there's always electrical tape 😉
