I found the button on the front of the gear shift selector lever somewhat hard to press when moving away or into the P parking position with my disabled right hand. Any creative solutions of the problem? I tried a rubber band, but the shape of the shifter prevented the rubber band to put pressure on the button. A solution is to replace the Automatic Shift **** with the one made by CravenSpeed which lift up on the **** to operate the shift lock release.
Thats an option. Do you think it would be easier to pull up, the button presently is a lever action, maybe pulling up might be more effort?
I thought about getting one myself.
Read the reviews, there have been fit issues that needed a workaround.

I cant think of any other solution for you.
In my case it is easier to pull the entire shifter up using my whole hand instead of the button which is relatively stiff. Is not clear if the button mechanism is mechanical or electronic... there must be a solution.
I looked at realoem, and newtis.
The gearshift **** is one assembly with the rod. No service information available to disassemble to maybe cut spring or replace with weaker spring.

It looks mechanical. The new shift **** locks to the rod, pulling the **** up pulls the rod out of the cog underneath, and a spring returns it/holds it down.
The OEM **** is one with the rod, I assume a lever is within the ****.

Update - I installed the Automatic Shift **** by CravenSpeed and I am happy with the results. It is much easier to lift the **** than pressing the button on the OEM shifter.
One can also choose to not install the Lockout Rod or spring to bypass the shift lock release altogether which I did. Thanks everyone!

Based on the numerous YouTube videos, the computer should ignore the gear change from D to R or P while the car is going... at least when > 5 - 10 mph. Someone here is brave enough to try it?
