2011 Countryman.. Removed battery now no volume button response
So over the weekend I was installing a trailer light controller in our Countryman.. This required pulling a power wire from the battery to the boot. In doing so I removed the battery, and glove box from the vehicle. I pulled a single 10ga wire with a fuse to the rear area.. capped it all off after realizing that the trailer converter was the incorrect one.
Anyway.. After all this I put the battery back in the vehicle.. restarted fine.. No codes.. However neither volume button seems to have a response to the radio.. The radio powers on fine.. Seeks and finds stations fine.. But neither volume button works.. Power button on the volume button even works..
Fun side note.. The temperature here has been below 0 for several days in the past weeks.. I did this work in the garage with the propane salamander burning.. Had a fan blowing air into and out of the mini.. Doors and windows were open so that the whole thing could come up to temp..
In the midst of all the temperature change the dash near the HVAC / glove box began to develope frost..
Can anyone think of anything that I would cause this?
Battery was disconnected ground side first.. and installed same way..
Are BMW's this sensitive or have I done something badly wrong..

Guess I should add that I tried to use the Aux input for the first time at this same time..
I had my android plugged into the USB to charge and the AUX for audio..
Not sure if this could do it too or what..

Going to try that when I get home

Well tried the battery disconnect.. left sitting for an hour. Reconnected. Nothing. No chimes. No response from the radio when I turn volume ***.. nor when I use the steering wheel volume controls.. are the head unit in these the same as the Cooper ones? What about the amp?
Local boneyard has a low mile copper S that has Harmon stereo..
More curious as to how this happened as I am how to repair. The radio comes on.. seeks fine. No sound and no volume control.. please offer up any more things to check

Fuses all check out ok..
Went to local salvage yard and pulled a radio from a car.. It's sitting in my pile of spares.. However Upon departing said salvage yard I got ONE sign of life.. The stereo emitted one and only one bing bong to tell me my belt was off.. Then silence again..
Still no volume response..
The warning chimes are all even gone..
Anyone have anymore suggestions before I pull the dash apart..
Can anyone confirm the fuse for the HK amp in the countryman.. seems even in the link above there is some confusion.. My car isn't wired with anything in F5 and that is the one it calls out.
Thanks,

Just in case anyone was following this for an answer.. It seems that while in the garage on that fateful day the snow / ice that was in the driver floor must have melted.. and gotten into whatever electronics down there deal with the radio function.. Didn't think the FCM had anything to do with audio but I guess I must be wrong.. vacuum water out.. put fan in floor over night.. radio is fine..
Get in with snowy boots.. once they melt and it runs into carpet.. radio dies.. Guess It's time for some weathertechs and some water intrusion protection..
