Depo housing help! ( fog lights )

Hey guys! Been doing a lot of night time driving lately, and want to give my Depo housings a bit of a kick in the butt with how they work.

I've seen threads previously about the housings. I love them, they look great, and put out ENOUGH light with halogen bulbs. But due to my recent increase in night time driving, and with the amount of wildlife in my area, I was hoping to get some more info on retrofitting better (HID) projectors into them.

My main concern is that people said you will burn out the projectors with an HID kit due to them being made for halogen bulbs. This is where things got a bit confusing for me.

Does anyone have any write ups, or videos on swapping new projectors into these housings? I've been told you just unscrew the old ones, replace with new ones, and make a bracket, but without having anything to go off of, it seems to be a bit of a hassle to do.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

And how would you wire up the projectors to allow usage with factory high beams?

Its all in that other thread already, im not typing all that again.

The projector does both the low and the high beam with a magnetically controlled shield. The other highbeam bulb in the depo lights is useless. Its just cosmetic at that point. But i did explain how to wire them as well as adapters linked in that other thread.

So what should I be expecting when removing the original projector? I'll unscrew the existing plate, and will it just slide out? Or is it put in a certain way?

How will putting the new one in go about? I understand you gave a list of parts. But not what actually happens.

Buy housings, projectors, and adapter plates.

Flip housing

take off bulb access

take 4 screws holding halogen projector in.

Take out halogen projector

Bolt adapter plate to hid projector

Stick hid projector into

put screws back.

Done!
Literally just 4 screws as long as its depo projectors.

Do you have factory fogs ?
If so, I put a set of Xenon's (HID) inside the lower factory fog light housings and made huge difference....work awesome No dash lights either....

No dash lights from an hid retrofit either, and i dont reccomend the fog light hid because hid have a warm up time, and its not healthy for them to cut on and off as often as it will since power is cut to the fogs when the hugh beams are turned on.

Moving this to the Mod section, has some very good discussions that will help others in the future.

Just to double check before ordering, do the lightwerk brackets work with the acme projectors?

What projectors did you use? Did you make your own mounting plate? I have the acme projectors, and the mounting plate you linked, and am unable to get the projector in with the plate on it

You may have to slide everything into the housing loose then bolt the plate to the projector, then bolt that to housing.
