Stage 2 Brake Upgrade kit with EBC red pads

Hey guys long time no post! I did some searching but for some reason it wasn't pulling up anything of help??? so sorry if this is in another thread somewhere.

Its time for some new brakes and my car is out of warranty so thought i would upgrade a bit. I was looking at these drilled slotted rotor and pad upgrade from mini mania for my R56. http://new.minimania.com/part/G2NMK2...-Mini-Cooper-S

question is... what else would i need besides rear rotors? do i need break sensors? i was looking to buy a kit and do it myself with a friend but don't know if i need anything else? suggestions? Will be just for street use but i like the reviews on the red stuff.. less dust

I have run both drilled & slotted rotors on my R56 S and let me tell you get the blank rotors that came with your car from the factory. Reason is the drilled & slotted rotors wear faster, my drilled & slotted rotors on my car now look like mirrors. My blank rotors never look that shiny and my stock rotors had six times more mileage on them. I'd go with a high carbon rotor, cost a little more and take a little more abuse. If you hate brake dust I recommend Akebono Euro Ceramic Pads, very little dust and quiet.

If the brake sensors you have haven't tripped any lights on you dash then there still alright, if you change your brakes before they file down your brake sensors you can reuse them.

You might be able to save the senors if they are not tripped. Akenbono Euros if you want less dust and good bite, good upgrade from stock. The EBC red will be more aggressive, but dust far less then the factory pads , which dust allot.

I would also replace the rotor screw which come in out kits , as the old ones can stick and then you hack them up taking them out. Apply some anti-seize when you put them back in on the threads for next time. Also make sure you have the T50 torx bit for them

We have akebono / zimmerman sets for the Cooper S non JCW brakes.

thanks and good luck.

+1 on the EBC red pads. Slotted rotors are great for extra braking power. Skip the drilled rotors completely. Ok for bling factor but they wear even faster as noted and will crack is used hard.

+1 on passing on the drilled rotors. Especially if you plan to drive it hard. Slotted and vented rotors will be the best, in my personal experience, for cooling.

Have you looked into doing upgraded stainless steel brake lines? Check them out here. A set of those with some really aggressive brake fluid will definitely help with your stopping power. I recommend the ATE type 200. I race with that fluid and it's been amazing.

Welcome.

Zimmerman and Akebono might be the way to go for you.

Yeah you don't need the drilled and slotted, save your money for other mods. Plus the plain face are quiet and tend to last longer.
We have a kit that has everything you need as this is what we would install if you came into our shop needing brakes

The EBC Reds give a good bite and less dust, while having good pedal feel.
