considering wheels-need assistance

Hello!
I'm looking at getting these wheels:
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...=Car%2FMinivan

Probably the lighter colored ones.
I've always kept stock wheels...my question is, what is offset and would I need to really worry in this case?
Any help, helps!!

Noel

I'm by no means a wheel expert, from the research I did before adding my wheels, that offset should be compatible.

I would suggest using a wheel offset calculator like this: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator

If you have a big brake kit you might need a wheel spacer depending on the wheel design (3-5mm spacer seems to be typical).

And I will tell you that my 2009 Clubman S (R55) I fit a 17x7.5" +42mm offset wheel fine as-is (Volk SE 37K), and it also fits fine with a 5mm spacer. It also fit fine with a 10mm spacer. However with a 12mm spacer the rear tires were rubbing the plastic outer fender if I hit a big bump or dip in the road.

The wheels you're looking at appear to be 16x7 with a +40 offset. I think they'll fit fine, but I am not really familiar with the r53. Just use the calculator.

IMO if your gonna buy some wheels, go 17" because more than likely you will always regret not. It's hard to pull off 16s unless the car is lowered, just my opinion of course.

Haven't even though of 17's. I'll have three sets of wheels, (S-Winders for sale).
But, car will be lowered slightly with HR springs, (waiting for install) and Koni Yellows.

Depends what you are after: form or function? Smaller will likely be lighter/faster...

These are the wheels I bought, if you get your wheels make sure they come with centering rings.

Go with 17, I run 215/45-17 on the car. Plenty of good tire choices in that size. My wheels are 40 offset- slight rub at a hard bump but they work and look good...

+1 on the 17, it's the "just right" size for the R53 IMO.
Nice looking wheel.

The 40 offset should be fine with 16" wheels as long as you don't go with super tall sidewall. I had 17" x 7", 38 offset, with 215/40 tires and H&R springs with a slight rub in the rear that I was able to resolve with a little inner wheel well plastic trimming. 40 offset will give you a couple mm of more clearance. Thus 16" should be no problem.

As others have suggested, I would also look at 17" wheels and tire selection available in 16 and 17. You might find that you have more tire options in 17".
