Where to mount

Getting ready to mount fog lights, just not sure of wher I want to position them. High in the grill like most I see, or in bottom grill opening. Son says up top, I like the bottom but not sure they are big enough, and wife says it has enough lights already.. Have a different grill coming this week so that will change. Also if low mount them to the grill not the lower lip where I show them sitting. thanks for the input

im on your son's side, up top looks best and I agree that theyre a bit too small for the bottom grill. Also I feel like they may be a bit more prone to road debris when mounted that low.

I just started to look into driving lights myself. I was thinking of using the outmotoring brackets and Hella 500 Black Magic. I am a fan of the lights through the front grille. I plan on adding black stripes on the bonnet right behind the lights.

Keep us posted, interested on seeing how you wire these. Some go through the high beam (legal) but I think I want to tap into a on/power source using an add a circuit in the fuse box to provide power to the switch which I was thinking of mounting on the kick panel.

Check out the VIP bracket. It mounts into the bumper mount and is extremely sturdy. There is the option if doing two or four mounting spots. I have the four bracket on my car and just waiting for funds to get some black magic lights. Here is a picture.

I have two stripes painted on it and it should be in my gallery.

fog lights (which your car already has btw) are mounted low so as to cut under fog

driving lights are mounted high to throw maximum distance

looks like what you are installing is technically the driving light kit

but decide where to place them depending on your desired result ...

I like the standard MINI installation. As you can see, I ordered this for my '14 Roadster S, as pictured in my configuration.

On a side note, the red JCW in the thumbnail lists at $43,000 at MINI of Sterling. A guy special ordered the car, then lost his job. It has an automatic transmission. My MA said he didn't have high hopes of selling the car anytime soon.

im not a terrible big fan of the lights in the upper grill imo, but since they are the smaller ones the upper grill is really the only place that they can go, im looking at the 500FF's, ima get 4 and put them in the lower grill

if you had 4, it would look good down below

Capt bj has the right answers for performance..
But if all you care about is looks - it is what ever you like.
As for me -- The S looks great without added lights.

Think I may wait till the splitter is mounted and see if I still want to mount them
