Got my 2013, whats new?
This thread is for everyone that graduated from the waiting for my 2013 thread. We had a great bit of fun in that thread. So now that you have your car, lets keep it going!!
CR, Spa, EHans???
I interviewed for an MA position today, what did you do?
Guys, you all need to install the nm short shift kit and the rear sway bar!!! I'm telling you, both are worth every penny!!!

I Zaino'd my 2013 Clubman S for the first time over the last few days...very impressed with the results. I've been a wax guy my whole life, but I didn't think wax did anything to make the Pepper White pop. Zaino gave the Pepper White some depth and shine that I don't think waxing did.
Since getting my Clubman, I've installed an NM Engineering Turbo Heat Shield, and mud flaps on all four corners. The NM SSK and a thicker rear sway bar are on my to do list...as are some springs (or coil overs if I can convince the wife). Something that will drop the car about an inch, and maybe dial out some of the Clubman's reverse rake.

The Zaino wax detail makes your car drive smoother too right?
Got pics for us?
The ssk feels so different. You will love it!!
The rear sway bar will freak you out! It is off the hook awesome!!
Keep me updated please, MOTOR ON!!!
Great thread, SG !! Keep the old gang together !
Short shifter and sway bar... hmmmmmm.....
I said I wasn't going to mod this JCW much bit like The Godfather said..... they pull me back in !

List of wants in priority order:
GP2 Rear Diffuser
Front strut bar
Lowering springs or coilovers
Rear sway bar
Not so sure I need a short shifter... I'm very satisfied with the throw on the standard stick in the JCW.
BTW... hit 600 miles on the way home. Halfway there !
Now... must go clean off the dead bugs.

In my opinion, rank your mods on impact when you drive it!
Please put the rear sway bar first!
Your diffuser and strut bar are mostly cosmetic.
The sway bar will amaze and shock you with every corner!!
Skip the coil overs unless you are going to track it.
Damn, I am so happy with the ssk, rsb, and DRL's that I don't want or need more.
Hey Dan, you got the recaros?
Damn my man, you da man!
You got pics?
I'm mad jealous!!

SG, I think you could make an outstanding MA because you're a really good salesman !
Okay... where's all the other guys from the Waiters Thread that took delivery ?? Going to have to start sending PMs of they don't get their butts in here soon.

Thanks. I'm doing the same!!

They are.. *really* nice..
Lol
My stuff has been mostly minor.
I am waiting on my silver front turn signal bulbs, and have an appointment next week for some exterior graphics. That will be mostly it for me. Considering painting her calipers red, but not sure. I won't do mechanical mods. Lana is just fine for me the way she is.
Things that have surprised me I like:
There are a lot of other thing I like, but they weren't surprises.
Things that have surprised me I don't like:
Overall, I'd do it again. I'd get the backup sensor. Rear Visibility is way worse than any other vehicle I've had, including a Nissan minivan. I don't think there is anything I'd drop though. The automatic headlights are useless to me, but that was part of some package, so no choice there. I think the automatic wipers will also be useless to me. I am a control freak. Same thing, a package.
I'd also get a different MA.
But oh so much fun to drive, and that is why I got her to begin with. Everything else is just window dressing.
- Platypus front plate holder
- Cravenspeed dipstick
- Chili red brake ducts
- Anthracite headlight and taillight rings
- Flexipod holder behind my tach for my phone. Waze is the killer mapping app for me. (I didn't even get Connected, and do not regret that one bit)
- tinted windows

Things that have surprised me I like:
- pop and burble too much fun
- low, very low, torque steer
- more comforable on long trips than expected (regular suspension, 17" wheels and runflats), and the seats are very supportive
- AM HD. i like talk radio and didn't even know it existed. I knew HD FM did.
- the hiss she makes when i open her doors
- that I can touch her start button and release and she'll start without me holding it down. I can get my seatbelt half-on by the time she is running.
- disco lighting. I seriously love it
- the Xenons with the driving lamp accessory will light up the world. I cannot believe it is legal (it is, I checked)
There are a lot of other thing I like, but they weren't surprises.

Things that have surprised me I don't like:
- sunroof rattles some. i'd still get it, but seriously mini?
- that cheap fabric wind breaker when sunroof open. i want a piece of nice black ABS plastic that wont rip or get bugs in it. maybe that is the trend. my wife's new Jetta has the same.
- ipod/iphone integration is a total joke. no podcast support. i use the AUX port. what a rip. the H/k sounds fantastic, but the UI just so-so.
- poor visibility out back when backing up. Very poor.
- i am a computer guy, and that computer UI is just bad. Who's bright idea was it to put an exclamation point in a triangle for "low fuel"?
- way more soot on lower exhaust tips than I'd like. Always wiping them down.

Part of my plan this weekend though...a 4th, 5th, and maybe 6th coat of Zaino, a good detail on the plastic trim, and shoot some decent photos. I'll be sure to get some shots of the mud flaps. I'm not sure how functional they are...the fronts seem to keep crap from kicking up onto the side of the car, but the rears don't seem to keep anything off the boot.

I did install a VIP front strut brace/bar which really helped the front end "plow" during spirited driving. I am waiting on the WMW rear anti-sway bar to arrive and install before we head down to The Dragon in early September.
I actually sent the nm-engineering rear anti-sway back for a refund from the vendor I purchased from...long story.

following Ehan's lead:
things we like:
*power/acceleration-for a tiny motor, making 208hp is impressive
*handling. it's a hoot to drive quickly...lot's of fun
*the quirky Mini touches: center speedo/nav interface, aircraft inspired switches, coolant gauage calibrated in centigrade, etc.
*Paint-very nice paint application on this car
*19" wheels...fill out the wheel wells nicely, and the crusher pattern is very cool
*foot controls....loads of room in the footwell, and the pedals are set up perfectly for heel/toe driving....really great.
*dual sunroof...let's a LOT of light in
*"spacious" interior...that's relative in a Mini, but the CM is much bigger inside than it looks outside....I'm 6'6", 275lbs. and have more than enough room in it.
*SPORT mode....tightens up the steering and has a better feel than almost any other car I have ever owned....I like having to really work the wheel.
*the car is "tight". closing the doors of the CM have a nice "thud" sound. very solid...every piece of the car feels very tightly put together...we will see how that holds up over time...
*rear backup sensors. they need a very nice job of incorporting this visually through the nav screen and audibly through the sound system...a great job...well worth the $500 price tag.
*the H/K system upgrade....sounds really good for a stock system, and can play loudly very clearly and w/o distortion....great when all the windows are down and we are flying down the road...
*comfort access-a very click deployment of this feature and has a good deal of functionality....once you get used to it, there's no going back.
things we don't like:
*no power seats with memory, including side mirrors....c'mon, a $45k car can't have this? it's such a pain everytime my wife and I swap the driver's set to get everything readjusted
*no pop/gurgle on decel...they tuned it out of US-based CM JCW's...sucks, sucks...really sucks.
*no low end grunt...sure it's a turbo and they are not exactly known for it, but you really have to goose this motor to 2500 rpm's or so before dumping the clutch from a dead stop to get any real locomotion..
No question we would buy this car again(I know, it's only been 2.5 weeks or so!)

Yikes - a guy steps away from his computer for a few hours and everyone moves to a new thread!
What I'd do with my MINI today? Nothing. Didn't drive it - didn't even touch it. Stupid job!
Yesterday, I confirmed that the JCW definitely is biased toward understeer. The body lean is also excessive, so a thicker rear sway bar is on my list of things to order. The NM one looks like a solid contender, but I haven't looked around much yet.
Mods so far: Xpel protection package, OEM stubby antenna, OEM rubber mats, US Mill Works lightweight tow hook license plate holder, CravenSpeed Fixie iPhone Mount, 2 CravenSpeed dipsticks (first one was way too loose)
Mods coming soon: no stripes, front and rear GP air diffusers, OBDII engine monitoring app, winter tire package and who knows what else?

I too was shocked at virtually no torque steer in my JCW. My 2008 MCS with stage 1 kit would literally rip the wheel out of my hands.
Xenons with driving lamps??
Glad you are enjoying your new car!!
Greg
I installed them 2 days before we stared a 2400 mile road trip from Chicago to Savannah/Tybee Island, GA to Myrtle Beach, SC and back home to Chicago...so I haven't taken decent photos. Yet.

Agreed. Mostly. I tend to rank my mods on what I can afford, or convince my wife to let me do, at the time. The ones I really want to do are the ones that affect the ride. But the cosmetic stuff I want to do is much more affordable.
