Outrageous

Does anybody find it outrageous that a motor mount can cost $330? I personally think this is the ultimate scam. How can anyone justify paying that for a motor mount? I am completely baffled by this...

Let me take a guess at this and say you went to the stealership? You can find them online all day long for a lot less. What year and model do you have?

$330 for an engine mount... yes a bit outrageous.

Try paying $120 for a tiny engine shock for a Mercedes Diesel engine... two per engine. That's ridiculous.

Thankfully the MINI mount has aftermarket versions

Yup, that is way too high.
Check with the vendors on this site, you have one on this thread you can trust, for better parts at lower prices.

Also, get to know RockAuto.com.

If it's the upper one, it's filled with hydraulic fluid, so it's not like most motor mounts, where it's just ''rubber''. Apart from stock, there's a couple aftermarkets ones if you don't mind the extra bit of vibrations.

Also the upper mount 22116778610 will tend to leak the black fluid and can be seen on the inside rail, and sometimes on the back side , if not seen from the front, that is the visual way to see its bad.

Thanks

Just had a new OEM one installed last week....I was feeling lazy...
was UNDER $200 installed....took about 20 minutes...no appointment needed at my favorite independent shop that does MINI work....
You can buy non-OEM ones for less and DIY it....but a 2 year warranty on a MINI branded part that seems to last about 30,000 miles MIGHT mean I get a second one for free.....

Sorry for the delayed response folks, been having computer issues. The mount I was referring to is the Vibre-Techincs. I am on my 3rd OEM mount from Mini and is leaking again. I didn't want to go with a solid mount because of the NHV. I saw this one and thought it might be a good alternative until I saw the price. Has anyone told that company you can buy a big screen TV for that price? http://new.minimania.com/part/NME470...-MINI-COOPER-S I wander how many they have actually sold? That's ridiculous...

They always seem to be expensive on any of their parts that's why you need to shop around. Colin green sells them to a lot of members. Contact him.

Yes, it's very pricey, but it works. Remember you're looking at a high-end solution to a problematic part for a premium car.

They have been much discussed on NAM and getting popular: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...atechnics.html. Considering that you've already gone through 3 OEM mounts, maybe it isn't quite so ridiculous after all.

They are just starting to pick up vendors in the U.S. (previously only available direct from the UK). OutMotoring also carries it now: http://www.outmotoring.com/vibra-tec...ount-road.html

You have a point- Thanks for the info. Wow you can go into information overload with that thread! I still cant believe that price but, I may have to bite the bullet. Just pi$$es me off that its just one more thing I have to spend money on with this car . Gen 1 refreshed R53. Its been a good car so far. I've had it since new. It will be 9 years old next week with 59K miles. I guess its going to need stuff as it gets older (kinda like me, lol). I just had to change out the control arm bushings with urethane ones a couple months ago. I also have the low speed fan issue, oil pan leak, and sender leak problems to deal with. Better than a car payment though
