no more beer cans..

So before I took possession of my r53 I was all about changing the exhaust.. until I started driving it. Felt the tone from the OEM exhaust was great.. loud enough to hear, but quiet enough to not bother my lil man ( 2 year old son). I did however hate the look of the beer can tips. So I stopped off at a local exhaust shop and bought some nice tips. I knew they wouldn't work as is but I have a killer set of tools and some fab skills.. lol. The set screws
were seized if course, so I had to get creative with a cutoff wheel. While I was at it I replaced the broken left muffler hanger and the cracked tailgate handle with new LED plate lights. Was a good afternoon.

They look like the ones I purchased from OutMotoring as I too hated the "beer can" look.

I bet yours cost alot less than what I had to pay; result: good looking tips . . . . . .

They look great, similar to my Miltek exhaust tips.

Nice look for sure. Quick question is your car like on the ground or is that just the angle of the shot?

How did you end up mounting the new ones? Did you just drill and tap the new tips to mount them? Looks really good, never thought mine looked bad but those look awesome!!

Thanks guys!
Really like the look over the stock ones.
The car is lowered with H&R springs, so like maybe lowered an inch..
The angle might be throwing it off a lil in the pix...
This is the rest of the car

I cut the stock pipes back a couple inches and drilled through.. slid a threaded "J-Clip" onto the pipe, Drilled a corresponding hole on the tips and inserted a metric bolt.. Nice and tight and allows for some adjustment too..

How hard would it be for you to get pictures of how you mounted it and what you used? Not trying to copy at all but now you got me wanting to do something like this!! Have you done the one ball delete yet? Or has it been done to your car already?

Sorry it took so long... here's a quick pic a bolt comes up from the bottom into this threaded clip inside the tailpipe. I painted it all black inside so you have to stare into the tailpipe to see it.. aka not visible unless you're looking for it.

Looks good uromini gives it a polishes look with a angled edge tip. nice mod.

Reminds me of the oem sport exhaust tips painted black mod.

Then painted:

Great ,

I am glad we could help.

The exhaust from MINI just has a rolled edge , but yea, same idea.

Was just looking at these on your site. What kind of tools and or knowledge do I need to install these?

I had the one-ball exhaust done and love the sound but would like it to look a little less stock. In what way do these change the sound?

Slide on and install by tightening with a little allen wrench screw on the bottom of each tip.
People have reported no change in sound.

Thanks

Nice looking exhaust tips!

I kinda like the beer can tips, I wonder if I could slide actual beer cans over my beer can tips, like a cover?

Maybe Guinness cans for that black out look!
