GP Delivery

I guess I get to be first,

Mini Usa left me a voicemail today about the delivery of my new GP!

* There is to be no special delivery event

* Only U.S. cars will be numberd, they say they're production numbers so maybe that means they will be in sequence not random like our previous GP's. Mine is to be GP 0226.

* Delivery will be early March

I'm going to call them back on Monday to see if there are any other details available. That's all for now.

I think it warrants a somewhat special delivery event. Did the WC50 or GP1 have one for the customer?

That truly is a bargin considering many normal JCW's are optioned into the mid 40's.

I'm surprised they didn't set the price higher to be honest

Mini USA did have the framework for a special event in place for a delivery in Las Vegas. When I asked about it they said there wasn't enough interest. You can get a look at the flyer at the address below or just do a search for "2013 jcw gp delivery"

Got the call today. The lady said the numbers are actually related to the production so I can not get 1616, so I requested 0097 to match my race car and she said yes.
US special delivery is for sure cancelled.
Cars will be here in early March
There will be NO selectable options like earlier they said we would have a few.

Email from Mini USA today...

Greetings GP MINI-acs,

We hope you are as revved up as we are about the forthcoming arrival of the 2013 MINI John Cooper Works GP on U.S shores. First, we’d like to congratulate you on reserving a brand spankin’ new GP of your very own—you are part of a very exclusive crowd of lucky Motorers who will soon be motoring in the fastest production MINI yet. And it is fine with us if you want to run screaming into the streets telling everyone who will listen, just that.

You have been patient since placing your order (thanks for that) and now we’d like to provide a few updates:

The cars are slated to arrive in March (we wish it were sooner too, but our factory geniuses in Oxford are busy putting the final touches on your GP).
Each U.S GP will be numbered. Can we get a WOOT WOOT? Over the past month, we have been working diligently with our European colleagues to “save the numbers.” We are thrilled to have the numbers back for the U.S GPs.
The number of each GP will be assigned based on Production to ensure its Authenticity (and that’s with a capital ‘A’).
We’ve told you just about everything we know… but if we can answer any questions, please call 1-866-ASK-MINI (275-6464). Otherwise, stay tuned for updates as we eagerly await the arrival of our latest MINI masterpiece.

Until then, Motor On.

The Team at MINIUSA

Well, the amenities, other than the racing seats, aren't there... You're almost getting a bare JCW with a tuned engine, rims, and seats.

40k was my limit, if it was 44k I was out.... I've been driving a beater since September when I ordered mine through my dealer... CANNOT WAIT!

Got the email and called MINIUSA for more information, they in turn told me to call my dealer. Sales rep gave me the production order # and VIN which I put into the Track my Baby area of the MINI Owners Lounge. Appears the West coast bound GPs are at the BMW Distribution Center in California and possibly have been for some time. When I tracked the VIN through the shipping company it looks like my GP was delivered to the port in Califronia the first week of January!!

Interesting that the email says they are putting on the final finishing touches in OXford.

Someone posted in the latest MotoringFile review that the price has been increased to $41,700 to reflect the alarm system and satellite radio. Anybody have confirmation on this?

I have the 1st deposit down at my dealer and have been in touch with them (no roof # and VIN yet ), but haven't heard about any changes in price....

I feel like there is a legal issue with a non-refundable deposit then increasing the price...

Did you see the guy selling his deposit on eBay? His ad says he decided he didn't want it after all. Houston dealer delivery; $1600 bid....

It will be interesting to see if someone puts a lawsuit in on the price increase. It really pisses me off and doesn't even seem legal since we all put our deposit in with the original MSRP of $39,950.
Maybe we could get a class action suit and all get paid.

Looks like all the cars at the port are coming with the additional options: Alarm, Heated Seats, Auto Climate and Sat Radio.
Extra $1750 tacked on

Went out for short drive in the GP Saturday. Great looking car, found the performance and interior cabin noise to be on par with my 2011 JCW. The ride was extremely firm compared to my JCW with the ST coils as I remember. The Recaro's are priceless!
