Passenger window regulator..diy??

Is there a DIY for replacing the window regulator? My passenger side stopped working...im assuming its the regulator. I can hear the noise when i hit the toggle switch.

More than likely it is your regulator, when mine went out you could hear it trying, but it wouldn't go anywhere. No idea on DIY though, I got shipped off to South Korea before I could get it fixed and my mom took it to the dealer

I bought my car with the passenger side window not working. The previous owner had already ordered a new regulator (lucky me), so it came with the car.

I searched Google for how to replace the regulator, and found a fairly easy one to follow. It didn't have pictures, but my husband and I were able to walk ourselves through it and fix it Turns out the wire was being eaten up by the motor when it got stuck in the first place.

Here is a good one, with pictures and everything. Overall, it's a fairly easy fix. Should only take about an hour to MAYBE two hours. Good luck!

EDIT: I think the link the person posted above me is the one I actually used lol. Either way, both good walk-throughs!

I did mine. Not the easiest DIY, but far from the hardest. Helps to have the 'special tool' to remove and reinstall the bolt that holds the glass to the regulator. I got it through 'SamstagSales.Com.'

If you can't get your hands on the tool, you can always use an allen wrench; there is a hex head bolt in the middle of the "cog" that holds the glass in place.

You might try a good whack on the door panel, right above the large round speaker. This worked for me quite a few times before the regulator got too tangled to work. Like another person who commented, the one that I had to replace had its cable tangled.

Good call. Without it 90% of the time the DIY'r ends up breaking the glass. Seen a few body shops do this.

Just remember that the "bolts" that hold the window are reverse thread from inside the door.

You can use a 5mm hex key to remove the pegs in place of the special tool.

I tried a 5mm hex key and the center of the peg got threaded, so i just ordered the tool from WAY.

I also read somewhere that to take off the pegs holding the window to the regulator you must spin the oposite way? Are they reversly threaded?

You can remove (and retighten) the white gear holding the window with a flat screwdriver tapped with a hammer. The white cable holders are NLA individually but can be found in some (but not all) regulator kits (partsgeek.com).
