04 HK same as 06 HK system? easy swap?
hi, my sister has an 04 MC with HK.
I have a 06 MCS with regular.
Is it a easy swap? I don't plant to swap out the HK grill, so is that possible?
has anyone done this before?
1) amp
2) 4 speakers in the front
3) 2 speakesr in the back.

How about just the HK speakers swap?
That should be easy right?
But will the non-HK system be enough to power the HK speakers?
anyone done this before?
Anyone upgrading a 06 HK system, let me know. i will buy your system.

Sadly, nothing simple about it. The swap has been done before - there are threads on it.
Special wiring from the HU to the amp, amp to the speakers. Speakers are a different impedance (4ohm??) than non-HK.

better to just buy a nice component set up front, maybe some 6x9 "subs" for the rear (look at the Tang Band's on partexpress.com) and a 4ch amp to power it all. and a head unit, unless you want to keep the stock one.
Don't try it! Please ...
The '04 / '06 issue is irrelevant. It's just that H/K is an "all in one" design that is seriously different to stock.
For example, no crossovers in the doors between low & mid/high - it's built in to the amp, with two separate feeds to each door!
Recommend instead looking at the DPSM; it's plug and play with the stock car, and more powerful ...

hexproject... I don't know what your budget is, and how important staying with OEM solutions (versus the aftermarket)... but your MINI is a perfect candidate for the DPSM system.
The DPSM is WAY WAY better than H/K. Blows it away completely. You won't miss the H/K at all once you have the DPSM.
Installing the H/K in a non-H/K MINI is not easily done. Trust me, I did the reverse... went back to the regular Boost setup. Why? So I could have the DPSM instead. It was nuts, and although I love my DPSM, I wouldn't go through the H/K -> non-H/K conversion again, knowing what I know now. Here's the thread... and it also includes good links about the DPSM itself in the first post.
Mind you, if you're not willing to break the $1,000 mark on your car stereo, disregard the entire thing. The DPSM kit itself runs around $1320 just for the parts (when you buy from a dealer who discounts). Then there's the labor, although if you're confident, you can install it yourself.
