I have a Classic Mini 1979 year model with 175 50 13 tires on it and I don't know what tire pressure to run in them. I did get the owners manual on DVD and the service manuals but I don't think it has the tire pressure recommedation for that tire as it's probably an upgrade. They are Minilite wheels 13's of course... anyone have any ideas or knows what works best?
Thanks!
I've seen and read several places that either 28 all around or 28 in the front 26 in the rear. Haynes recommends 2.0 bar in the front, 1.8 bar in the rear for that size tyre. A bar = 14.5 psi.
The way to go is 28psi front and 26psi the tha rear,do this when tires are cold , then take it for a ride and if you are going to change anything do it in 2psi. increments..this is what i did on my 199? sport pak and it's perfect ..

Tire pressure has a LOT more to do with the type of tire than what kind of car it is. Anything under 30 is going to have issues when it's wet out, and anything above 36 is going to have issues when it's hot out and you're driving hard.
As far as where the sweet spot is I couldn't tell you. I run my street tires at about 31 in the front and 33 in the rear, I run my race tires 1 PSI higher.
Thanks for all your ideas. I am currently running 30 in all four and will see how that does for a while. It's in the 70's here in Memphis, so it's not too cold. You guys are the best! Thanks again!
Our tires are smaller... and they seem to be fine at 30... so far and sorry guys, not bragging about weather... that's just the way it is... of course today it is rainy and around 58 degrees...
The tires are smaller, but pressure is per square inch. Doesn't change with more square inches.
I usually run around 32psi on all 3 cars.
70 degrees? Brrr....it's gonna hit the low 80s today.
My 12" wheels are stamped 35psi max, and I generally fill them to 32 or so as I know they have slow leaks. The sidewalls don't have a rating molded into them?
From what I've heard about run flats they're a rough ride and combine that with a classic Mini you won't have any teeth left after driving around on some of the roads out here.
