Glove Box Organizer doesn't seem to fit?

I just got a glove box organizer for my '07 MCS, and it doesn't seem to fit the glove box...a touch too wide. Is there a trick to putting this in, or am I missing something obvious?

I will try that tomorrow...would I be correct in assuming it goes in so that the short tabs are against the top of the glove box?

It fits, but in a very particular way. The easiest way I found was to open the glovebox and remove the stuff inside (duh). Holding the unit with the divider on top and the tapered end facing you, flip the unit vertically so the divider faces the glove box front of the car. Now move it forward into the glovebox. The unit should need to be tilted (45 degrees or so) down towards you as it is placed into the glove box. Once placed, when you let go of it , the unit will lay flat on the glove box door and you can close it. However, you will need to adjust the contents of the glove box forward and backward to ensure it closes corrrectly. Honestly, while it does do a good job of keeping the glove box organized, the odd shape causes a bit more space loss than most people will be willing to accept. Still it works well for me.

I found the item to be worthless and even the dealer couldn't figure out a sure fit.

The SA here at my local dealer advised against buying the R56 organizer, saying it was not a good fit at all, and was not the best purchase.

Still not able to get it to fit....push hard, or following the instructions from Nimcosi. Mine looks completely different than the one shown in the pic above though....looks like this:

This is not a pic of mine, it is a pic I found on the web....doesn't look anything like the one I ordered. Did they send me the wrong one?

That picture isn't a R56. The one in the pic I posted is the OEM model for a R56.

You should try the organizer from GoMiniGo. You can find them on the vendor list. I absolutely love mine!

Technically I had to buy the car to get it, so yes I guess so.

How about posting a picture to see where you cut it?

Mine is an R56. However, after looking at the different ones available, I bought it from Minspeed (they sell the GoMiniGo organizer), but it looks like they mistakenly sent me the one for the R53 instead of for the R56. I'm in the process of working that out with them now. That would explain why it doesn't fit!

No wonder it didn't fit! I like the glovebox on the R53 better than the R56.

Stealing Minidrivr's picture, I make sure my OEM R56 organizer matches up with the indicated indentation prior to closing. That works for me. However, I'm not impressed with the OEM organizer, and think that T-horn's GoMiniGo suggestion is probably the better way to go.

Why kind of material is the GoMiniGo one? I just recently pulled my out due to all those tiny fibers getting all over everything I put in there...but then I'm a little OCD.

Our GbT is ABS plastic and the flat areas covered with felt. We can also match the felt to the color of your car. Yellow Felt would look nice.

Does the felt "shed" like the OEM one?

My OEM glovebox organizers never had any shedding issues...this is my second (first on an '03, and now on my '07). I like the finished edges of the OEM unit and the elastic hold-downs are very useful given that the unit moves up and down with the glovebox door. That said, for me the secret of making it work was getting it centered. If mine wasn't centered it seemed to hit some internal part of the glovebox as I closed it. It's not a precision thing, but one I got it roughly centered it's worked great. I just use it all the time and never give it a second though which, afterall, is what you should do with a glovebox organizer.
