Now I play the waiting game

.... ah, the waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos! (Simpsons reference)

I finally bit the bullet and ordered my R56 Mini Cooper S! Hopefully they can get me slotted in to a late August build. I'm pretty excited

The specs:
Lightning Blue/white
Sport Package
Sport Suspension
LSD
Auto AC
White turn signal
Anthracite Headliner/brushed alloy
iPod adapter
Driving lamps

And, if the configurator is accurate, should look a-something a-like a-this:

Can't wait.

Very nice! The waiting is the hardest part.

Finally eh.

Congratulations, nice set of options, great color with the white top.

Enjoy the wait with your other prod. week MINIites.

Thanks!

What surprised me from the test drive (first time driving a MINI)...
It's really quiet! I was expecting something a bit rougher and less refined, but that just wasn't the case. Also, the Sport Suspension is pleasantly firm, but by no means rough. It's downright soft compared to my WRX.

Holy cow have they made a smooth ride. Everything about it I found buttery smooth. Light clutch (lacks a bit of feel, but no worse than other light clutches I've come across), VERY slick shifter, smooth steering, smooth seats... I love it.

Brake pedal is a bit high up and very sensitive, but that's something I'll have to get used to. Bottom hinged gas pedal is also something to get used to. I found myself kicking the bottom of it when I moved my foot from brake to gas.

Sport button rocks. Why it's not defaulted on all the time, I'll never know.

I feel the same way going from my STi. I'll miss the rocket take offs but not the constant bouncing like a tin can in the wind and the thin cheap plastic interior. Can't wait for delivery!

the 07 turbos that bmw remodeled (according to reviews) is quieter than the supercharged MCS of the past. no more tin can rattling...but still the famous BMW low quiet growl with smooth acceleration, yippie.

I've got the STi suspension on my WRX, so I totally empathize with the bouncing.... it's nice, but it wears you down. Like I was telling my MA, I'm giving up a lot of power, but I really don't think I'll miss it (the power, I'll always have a place in my heart for my Subaru )

Yeah that set up makes heel-toeing a little bit difficult, I'm still trying to get used to it. If the brake pedal was lower and not so abrupt it would make it so much easier.

Haha, I know I'll need it. Just got a call saying leatherette supplies were low, so I'm on the production run first week of September... They might as well lay down the delays early to get them over with

Don't tell me that the wild leatherette is now an endangered species? DANG IMHO, the cloth seats are the cat's meow. Did you consider them at all?

Your build is beautiful. I love the blue spectrum (and miss the old LY). He.. I love all MINIs

Happy trails

I did consider the cloth. Actually, that's what I originally had on my miniusa configurator car that I loaded up at the dealership! But the car I test drove had the leatherette and I was really impressed with how it felt (you know, for a fake leather, haha) that I went ahead and changed that on my order

billie_morini - I hope so! I need to go wash my old car.... just to make it feel loved

Well, then you have to tell Sonja that she needs to organize a wild leatherette expedition because you need what you need to tackle the Hill Country

I realized the first and only time I tried to eat a fast food burger while driving down a poorly paved freeway that there is such a thing as too stiff in a daily driver. I'm really looking forward to the more well behaved ride I'll get from the MINI without compromising any fun factor. I know I'll miss the Subaru for it's finer points though.

Finer points? Like, being able to go into a corner with a full head of steam, crank the wheel, hold on, and hope that the diffs can catch up with your shenanigans? Yeah, that'll be missed, hehe.

Congrats! Your car looks very nice and I'm glad I went with the LiB even though I only got to see the old blue and what I imagine it will look like.

Woohoo! Got my production number, so now I can obsessively refresh and see the blue dot still on "On Order"

they sure build up the suspense... by the time we get our MINI's we're going to want to take them to bed with us the first night.
