Gah!!! Spoiler dilemma!

Help please. I'm in a spoiler dilemma.

I placed my order about a month ago at Murray of SLC. Supposedly, I'm scheduled for production on Aug. 6. Here are the details of what I ordered:
LiB/B, White signals, JCW Spoiler, Cold Weather, Convenience and Premium packages, LSD, DSC, Xenon, rear fog, Chrome Line Interior, Navigation system, Lounge Leather/Black, Anthracite Headliner, Brushed Alloy Interior Surface, Dark Grey Color Line, HD Radio, Sirius, Hi-Fi, 16” bridge spokes (all weather tires) (hope to replace these with 17" or 18" black rims within a few months).

My dilemma? Do I really want the JCW spoiler? And.....does my MINI come to the dealer with a spoiler already (do they have to remove one in order to put the JCW on?)? Or, since my order includes the JCW, do they send it without any spoiler?

I'm thinking that I might like the spoiler that I see on a lot of pics on here instead of the JCW, but......am really up in the air about it.....

Any help/advice would be appreciated!!

Thanks!
holls

The jcw spoiler just doesnt look stable to me. If you go and even lightly press down on the outsides of the wing then you notice that they give a tremendous amount of flexibility. Not good in my book b/c if it gives with your finger then it will give with the wind. If it gives with the wind, then its not doing its job as well. My two cents.

Here's the difference in the three wings:

Here's the JCW CF Spoiler:

You don't say, but I assume you are getting the MCS, not the MC.

Lose the JCW spoiler. It doesn't blend well with the design of the car -- looks out of place.

The S comes with a very nice spoiler that fits the rest of the design well.

Problem is the link above is for the R53 Spoilers.

Factory S Spoiler...

I ordered the JCW body kit and spoiler, because thats what I liked.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the input (and photos).

Sorry Robin - it is an MCS.

Did you mean, Robin, that it'll come to the dealer with the stock spoiler that SDMike posted? Or will they leave it off since I requested the JCW when I ordered?

You would have to ask your dealer, but I suspect it would be installed at the VDC (Vehicle Distribution Center). That is the place that cleans up MINIs and BMWs after the come off the ship. They also do installation of things like the JCW aero body kit.

Aye, the JCW bits go on at the VDC. It's what will hold up delivery of Mike's new MINI for at least a week. :impatient

Why is he getting that silly thing?! :impatient
That's one delay where I will have no sympathy for the Mike waiting angst.

I'll just be

Thanks tig, Robin and Mike - Guess I'll have to call the MA and see if I can remove the JCW spoiler (and perhaps replace it with the iPod integration....).

Thanks for all of the input. I hope yours has smooth sailing tonight, Mike!

I got the JCW spoiler for R56 and I really like it, though it does have silver plastic so it won't match your car unless you're going silver. Install is a NO-BRAINER. It's 5 nuts literally. VERY EASY INSTALL. Still need to update my sig.

Mike, I hate you rain on your parade, but did Brecht explicitly promise you that JCW parts would be VDC installed and did they quote you that install price? Originally South Bay's quote for JCW installs was large, but I'm sure a fair install price for the wing is less than an hour. Mine took 20 minutes. Painting the JCW wing that has a primer roof panel would cost more. Mine was the black roofed wing.

Karl as far as I know Brecht will not have to paint the wing as there are 2 part numbers one black roof and one white roof. I believe a third part number for body colored roofs is available.

Pricing... let's just say it wasn't extravigant
