MINI_Bee, Went to the site you posted. $12.95 is not a bad price when there in a box. The ones I picked up are $12.00 each and no box. (Now I know that there are 3 more Convertible MINI's to keep an eye out for.) I rather have the ones in a box. I wonder how much shipping is per car Thats where they will kill you.

 

Well, I did some digging on this. I have seen the Alta ones but these look different and they come in six colors. At $3.99 British Sterling they are just under $8 a piece. Anyone want to do a group buy? I have no idea how much shipping would be.

Jack, these are 1:55 scale, is that smaller that the standard matchbox?

 

I believe Matchbox is 1:64, which is smaller.

 

I have the EB one. got it at a custom car show up here in CT.

Those Alta Tuner MINIs are authorized by Alta. I contacted them and they said all remaining stock was sent to Triple-C and British Atlantic in early 2006. I can't find them for sale anywhere so it looks like it will be ebay and the flea markets to find them.

I'll try to call them in a bit. Ironically, I was adding some new magazine articles to my "Tome of Mini" this evening and they're in there from the April '03 Eurotuner "Maximize Your Mini" article ago as one of the Mini tuner/suppliers--recognized the car!

Got mine today too! The only thing more exciting than seeing the Crown Royal box was seeing the cars inside! The yellow and black checker Siku is outstanding and the others are great too. Thanks! I will be sending some more stuff your way Rob, as soon as I get it. I found some new things here and will post those later. The German advertising cards are cool!

 

Well, I inquired about getting some of the XTuners from that source. They wanted about $50 to ship one set of six of them. So I'll try to find another source. I really wanted the yellow and pink ones (just because I haven't seen too many pink MINIs). The pink has been discontinued but I ordered one yellow one. I'll post a detailed photo when I receive it.

OK, so Rob included this German advertising card for MINI accessories in my box, and it looked like there was some cool stuff there. So I went to the URL on the card. In addition to some nice shirts, hats and other stuff (and a really cool mini fridge), they have some great model cars and MINI slot cars.

My favorite is a 1:18 scale Liquid Yellow MINI One with removable aero kit and driving lights. They also have a 1:18 Follow Me MINI.

A couple of months ago I got a good deal on the Hot Orange 1:18 Cabrio model in that is shown in the catalog, and the detail on it is awesome. Both back seats fold down, boot opens, and it has two tops(one for top closed and one for top down). I would really like to get the 1:12 model MINI has, but the $300 price tag is a bit steep. The detail on it is incredible: cloth top slides open to sunroof position and also all the way down, seats are leather, etc.

 

Found the Extreme Tuners for $10 each but it doesn't look like they have the convertible ones at this place:

I'm watching a pair of them on ebay (yellow and orange) with a BIN price of $11.50. If I get them I'll probably trade the orange one for something else.

Got one of the little New Ray infrared RC MINIs with the wristwatch controller today. Haven't fired it up yet but the quality looks good for a $6.99 piece.

 

I've purchased from Diecast Alley before, as a matter of fact I bought both the LY/B & LY/W taxi's from them. Great customer service and very prompt shipping. BTW, check your pms.

 

Here is a link to a red 1:12 Cabrio which is made by Kyosho. Kyosho is the manufacturer of the models you get through MINI. Last time I found one of these, it had an MSRP of $425.

I asked the folks at my dealer if they could get one of the 1:12 Hot Orange Cabrios and he said he could get me one for only $299. My wife didn't see that as a bargain.

 

That model is incredible but still not worth $300 (unless I win the lottery). There was a gold one on ebay a week ago for about $55 but I don't think it was the same one. I think it was the 1:18 scale Kyosho. Still very nice.

I have yet to find anyone who makes a Liquid Yellow COOPER Cabrio. The few that are available in LY are S's. I have the 1:87 scale one from MINI in the little black box but it's the size of a thimble. I may be forced to take a part a Hot Wheels Cooper Cabrio and paint it.

 

I've got both the 1:43 and 1:18 scale Hot Orange Cabrios from MINI. The 1:18 was $50, but normally goes for $65, I think. Kyosho sells the same models as MINI, but theirs are different colors.

I checked for one of the 1:72 LY/W Yat Ming MINIs tonight while shopping, but no luck. I figured if I found one I would get it in case you were interested. Unfortunately the one I found last week was an S. Also, the color is a little off-it has a slight greenish tint.

They had a bunch of EB/W and CR/B in the clearance aisle, with many more in the toy aisle.
