Thanks James! I'm off to the book store tomorrow after work since they seem to pull the previous months editions early around here. I lost out on all the March issues - darn it!

I've been absent from here for a few days (maybe weeks) now. School has been nuts. But thanks for the updates, I now have a new list and maybe I can get over to the book store on one of the next 5 days I have off. Gotta love Spring Break.

LET'S GO TOP DOWN PARKA UP. Found in the March 28, 2005 issue of ESPN Magazine. (between pages 44 & 45, using page 45).

Also, Downtown MINI is running a series of gas pump ads. I photographed some yesterday and I hope to get them when they get taken down.

Oh, they'd be taken down by now, trust me!!!! Even if I had to grease a few hands.

Great find James! Thanks for the heads up.

Off to drop my folks an email, they're heading into Orlando in the next few days. Are they at all the gas stations, or just a few of the Shell ones?

James:

Is "ESPN Mag" the kind that would have March 28th date on the stands the week before the 28th? In other words, today, March 30, would I find an April issue?

Where do old magazines go to die?

Susan

The issue says March 28, 2005. Not sure when it comes out to subscribers, I got this one from my brother-in-law who says he has seen MINI ads in ESPN Magazine before but he's thrown out all his old issues.

By the way, I find a lot of old magazines at my library's (where I work) used bookstore. Try your local library for a used bookstore.

I hope I'll get the MINI pump ads if they didn't just toss my name and number away when I left. We'll see...

I did pick up a half dozen more Krystal MINI kid's meal boxes today.

I'll have to get this from Dad.

Anyone know where this one can be found? Someone posted it on a local board but no info on it.

Ccc

I saw the TV commercial for counterfeitmini.org while watching E!'s hour-long recap of the Michael Jackson trial Saturday. I've gone to the website and see that there is a DVD for $19.99 that can be ordered.

Anyone ordered it yet? Is it worth the money?

OK, I finally got a few of the COUNTERFEIT MINI COOPERS ads.

I'm still looking for the GASAHOLIC ad, and I heard at my dealer today that the ads have been pulled.

NEW AD FOUND TODAY:

THE OPEN LETTER. Men's Journal. May 2005. (page 77)

THE OPEN LETTER

To Whom It May Concern,

Have you ever seen someone driving an open car with the top up? You kind of get the feeling they have something to hide. Like someone wearing a trench coat and sunglasses. Somehow, that thin piece of fabric is more of a barrier than the strongest steel.

If they were driving a car with a regular roof, you probably wouldn't notice. But since they intentionally closed an open car, you can't help but think they're a closed person. After all, they've made a conscious decision to be closed when the opportunity to be open was right there. Open people would never do this.

Open people don't care what their hair looks like. Open people don't mind picking a few bugs out of their teeth. If they drive past an oil refinery, open people welcome the smell. If panhandlers approach them at a red light, open people never panic. Most motorcycle people are open people. They've just opted for two wheels instead of four. All kids are open people. This is why they try so hard to stuff their heads and arms out of the window. But most of them soon outgrow it.

In the old days, it was easy to tell open people from regular people. Open people drove around in goggles and leather caps. They took a lot of back roads. Whenever possible, they kept the accelerator mashed to the floor. When they stopped to gas up, the grimy outline of their eyewear made them look like racoons. Today it's harder to spot an open person. But they're still the exception and not the rule. Even here at MINI, most of us are regular roofers.

If you are considering a new car, the best thing you can do is be honest with yourself. Are you an open person? Please take some time to think about it. The fact is we didn't make very many of these things. And with MSRP starting at $22,000,* they could easily end up in the wrong hands.

Always Open,
MINI

James,

I managed to accumulate 3 gashaholic ads, so I wouldn't mind sending you one if you still can't find one. Maybe we can trade if you have extras of something.

OK... I'm probably not posting under the correct thread but...James, did the dealer give you any reason as to why the Gasaholic ads were pulled? I'm curious ! I didn't see anything that I thought was a problem but who knows... I also have a couple if someone didn't get one- Just let me know:smile:

Well , I have a NEW find!! The May 5, 2005 Rolling Stone(or RS) has the ad that Meg mentioned was in the March MotorCyclist. The ad is on page 17 for a Kawasaki Jet Ski and the insert is a cut out of the MINI convertible as an insert between pages 16 and 17. I will send the scan of it to James and he can post it on the libraryofmotoring.info site so you all can check it out! It's the third type of ad in that series-very creative once again- I really like that they have teamed with other advertisers-not sure if it's all the same ad firm but very creative cost sharing!!!
