For those that frequent the photo and video forum, who's going to be at AMVIV?

 

I'll be there! Coming down from Northern California and should arrive in the afternoon of 03/23. I'm sure we'll finally get to meet! Maybe even shoot something! This will be my first year at AMVIV, so you experienced guys will have to show me the good locations for shoots.

 

Tuls and I will be there (of course), we're arriving mid afternoon Thursday

 

Sounds great! My better half wants to see your pink MINI. She loves it as well as the Queens... Can't wait to finally meet all you crazy MINIacs...

 

any caravans?

 

There are a few caravans going on... I'm trying to get together anyone from Sacramento area to head down to Fresno to join up w/ Norcal and Midcal. Since you're coming from Santa Cruz, it may be best to meet up w/ Norcal.

Norcal group is meeting at East Bay MINI at 5:15am 03/23 and heading over to Fresno to join up w/ Midcal... here's the thread

I don't post in the photo phorum cos I don't see myself in the same class as you guys, but I want to make an announcement here that any pics you guys take at AMVIV that you think are pretty good, please send them to me so that I can include them in the write-up.

She's so jealous, you have no idea. She's been trying to talk me into painting my MINI pink... we all know the results of that discussion!!! I keep telling her to trade in her car and get a MINI so we can be a two MINI household... She's not there yet, but I am getting her close to the cabrio!!!

 

Maybe we can steal a moment to hook up for a drink and then take a group pic.

 

I'm fairly new to this forum, been hanging out since I decided to get a real camera (Canon 20d). I will be at AMVIV Thursday evening, hope to meet a few of you!

Is she crazy?! does she know that if you paint your Mini pink you will pick up chicks left and right!!!! It's so funny how many girls hit on Tuls when he drives mine.


And yes GOLD & BLACK&BLUE I think meeting up is a good idea. I had suggested maybe a little friendly photo competition but nothing came of it so maybe if we all get toasty on some cocktails something brilliant will happen...or we'll just end up with photos of me lying on the pavement on the top of the parking deck again

 

You almost make that sound like a bad thing.

 

Well here are our choices:
A. Thursday night @ the In N Out (we could take it from there)
B. Friday night @ Palace Station Mixer (hook up & decide from there)
C. Saturday night after the Strip Cruise (or prior)
D. All of the above

I'm down for any one of those choices. I'm game for anything.... Thursday night maybe the best for us to go out and shoot... Anytime for drinks!

 

Another notion some of us (SCMM folk) toyed with last year was an idea about conducting some sort of photo "event." The concept would've revolved around travel and/or automotive photography. Some of the formats tossed around included: seminar, workshop, panel discussion, demo, and I can't remember the rest.

Taking Emily's cue about some sort of shoot-out, why not approach Andrew about holding a gallery exhibit inside the Palace Station? (or we can always share portfolios amongst ourselves if it's too short a notice to organize something like this.)

If you were to do the thursday night...what time are you considering? I will be rolling in thursday night and would stop by depending on time.

 

A and B work best for me.

speaking for myself, I don't have the time prior to AMVIV to really put together a portfolio to thumb through. As for a gallery exhibit, I have one photo I could show, but with all the other stuff I'm bringing along I don't want to bring a picture frame that size in the car (glass)

 

I'm with you DiD. I don't have time to put something together, however, it sounds like a good idea for next year! Maybe we can have a theme each year for the gallery... hmm, this can be the start of something big!

 

Juan, the Strip Cruise is Friday night after the mixer.
Emily, I am totally 100% open to a photo comp of some sort but I have no idea on how to set something up or how to handle judging or any of that stuff.

Palace won't let us hang anything on the walls in the banquet, but if anyone wants to do something at the Boot N Bonnet Show, or at the Meet the Miniacs Mixer on friday, shoot me an email. Or if there is some other way to do something, please contact me. I love photography, used to be kinda into it but haven't had time to do anything real in a couple of years.

 

Thursday at In-n-Out still looks good for me

I'm iffy for the Mixer on Friday (not sure if I'll be back from the desert in time to be at much of that one)

 

So it lines up for Thursday night at In and Out.

Do I want to know why you're going out to the desert Friday night DiD ?!?!
