camcorder suggestions
Hi, I am looking for recomendations for a camcorder primarily to be used with a bullet cam for track events and motorcyle rides. I have a couple camcorders already but unfortunatly they dont support video in :-(
My main concern is the video in at an affordable price, but I guess I need to be able to download it to the pc as well.
Any advice will be greatly apreciated. Please try to keep th erecomendations pocketbook friendly :-)

Hey Brian,

Bills suggestion with finding a camcorder with a mic input is good, however if you're looking for a camcorder with Video In, a mic input won't be helpful.
The reason being that when you use an external camera with your camcorder, the audio gets inputted into the same audio line-in pair of the video in. The external mic input is disabled.
The only time the external mic input is desirable is if you want to be able to use an external mic, like a wireless, or lav mic while shooting video through the camcorder lens.
Expect to pay around $500 street price, not list price, for a decent camcorder, and I stick with either Canon or Sony.
Even better is to find a model with a LANC port so you can use a remote start/stop switch to control your camcorder. Again, when you camcorder is set to Video In mode, the standard trigger controls are inoperable, so being able to start and stop your camcorder is extremely useful.
Only trouble is that Canon has dropped LANC support on all their camcorders in favor of USB ports which aren't compatible with external remotes--except for the top end--$1500+
Sony still includes them however on certain models. Best bet is to either find someone with the camcorder you're thiking about and test it out, or see if your local video store will let you play with the demo camcorders for awhile, since not all camcorders even with Video In, will successfully accept an analog in video signal---which is what any bulletcam or VacuCam system will output.

Thank you both for your input ! Ilooked at the thread and I guess some of th emodels listed are not stocked anymore locally. They did have a couple of them on the website posted at a great price. Have you ever purchased anything from that website?
Locally they have the Canon Elura 80 for $522, the link has it MUCH cheaper. But since they dont publish the price I wont post it either.
