A MINI amongst a sunset (new pic I took)
Finally...
..we had weather, and there was enough to get the camera out.

This is just up the street... my usual parking spot was occupied how dare they.

Haven't used the camera enough to know how to use it or what it can do.

Washed Swifty, and...
...I am on a roll!
Two nights ago:

I just finished treating the plastic/rubber trim, so this is as clean as Swifty has been for awhile.

I tried to get the drips off the boot, because just the drive down my street collects dust.
And last night:

Perhaps speednut would take (so much) time to erase the junk out of the background. It takes the neighbors to get the State land closed off from bonehead quad riders.

My meager attempt to emulate TwOMINIs.
Not the same without stripes.

My, Swifty is looking very spiffy after getting washed. Great job!
(yeah I know, not much longer before the kid starts destroying my cars too!)Next time Kurt, send me an email with a larger version of your photo to remix; this one is very small and compressed. Another tip, turn your front wheel so we can see it in the photo, assuming they're not covered in brake dust.
MotorOn, all adjustments done with curves, contrast mask, and channel mixer, no sat adj.
Enough yappin', here's your remix with a nod to David Muench.

Since I was in a remixing mood, I worked on Dean's photo for a few minutes too. Maybe this remix looks more like what you were hoping for Dean?

Very cool. Much more dramatic.
Thanks.
My photographic skills leave a lot to be desired. I have a half-decent camera (Canon S3IS) but I have not ventured out of program-mode yet.
I know, I know ...shame on me.
Now, where is that manual ...
dean.

One general rule tip, have the car entering the photo if possible. Allow the viewers eyes to see where the car will be traveling to, not bumping right into the photo's edge. My $.02.
Cheers!
You rang???

I think that's the most detailed shots we've seen of Swifty for quite a while. Were you able to wash out the door dings too?

I didn't think you would bite.
Thanks!Welcome reelsmith! Only trouble with practicing sunset shots is you miss dinner (or happy hour).

I actually attempted a picture for the Spring Photo Contest but wasn't particularly pleased with the results.

dean.
witht he car slightly (or severely) off to the side, withthe car facing in such a manner that it guides your eye INTO not out of the photo. You want it to be balanced, or intentionally unbalanced depend upon what message you are trying to convey with the image.

p.s. DS/DS rules!

Try to post that in the Chili Red thread.
CR rules for sunsets.
reelsmith: I'm in a rut with posing positions, because I don't try unusual concepts like Motor On has been lately. If we don't keep trying... then nothing will just happen.

Really?
If I'd have known I would have. I don't care for it, myself. CThe car seems poorly focused.
Next time I'll go with your instincts rather than mine.

lol yeah its actually an extreamly busy road, I sat there for about 15 min waiting for there to be no traffic in both directions so I didnt get the road in the pic but thats the best I could get. That was actually with a $99 3 year old digital camera also.
Looks pretty good. If I were to be critical, I'd suggest using a polarizer filter to reduce or further enhance the side panel reflections. It's also a bit grainy, but that could be due to your film choice or scanner. Post more please.
p.s. This is the sunset (or sunrise?) thread. Reduce the exposure if there is a sunset/sunrise going on behind your Mini so we can see it.
