They handle great in the twisties. Maybe not as good as the Dunlaps or BFG but at 65$ per tire the price is hard to beat esspecially for a daily driver. You can always get a dedicated set for canyon blasting, autox and track days.
Chef

Thanks these are probably where I will end up, I'll get AAA roadside assist and then get the tires. Where did you see them at 65 per tire?

That is nice But almost a overnighter? Have you ever been over Nacimiento road to Hwy 1? That looks really cool but not sure of the road condition?

Not sure how to put it on a map link but, Where Hwy 25 ends on the south end at Hwy 198 you take a left heading east and very quickly make a right turn onto (I think it is called) Jack Rabbit road which quickly turns into Peach Tree. It is a twisty 1 1/2-2 lane that heads south. Then a Right onto Indian Valley that takes you down to the little town of San Miguel (where Californias most neglected mission stands) and onto US 101. Very fun drive and no traffic!!

OOPS my bad. That is what I paid for my winter tires.
Currently Tirerack has the 215/45/17 for $87 and the 205/45/17 for $91 and 215/40/17 are $83
I think that is what I paid from tirerack back in Sept.

I did it back in July. The road was pretty good. It took about 8 hours with lunch. I'm not sure if you would want to foucs for that long in a group.

John, didn't u know that u r supposed to glide just above the road in your Mini. If u drive that way, u won't wear out your tires so fast

Hey can I put in my two cents worth?...........................the Bridgestones I was recommending were the Potenza RE 11s. I got 18k out of their predecessor the RE01s so I know they will get better mileage than the Dunlop Z1s which got only about 10k or 12k with some track and auto cross use. They and the Dunlops are good in the rain when it isn't a real down pour. At that level NO tire is effective.
Master Chief those General are what I put on my sons car and he loved them. Good bang for the buck.

Looks great Chief! The color-match is perfect. I saw the mileage on your odometer. Your's has more than mine, so I guess JIMINNI's right after all. Oh, we went & saw Avatar (3D) on IMAX tonight. Amazing film & a must see for everyone!

Milage on the odometer happens when you drive them daily.

One of the great things about NAM and MidCal is that when your faced with a question or decision you can throw it to the Big Thanks and someone has an answer. Now maybe it does not match what your looking at but it does give you a sanity check during the process. Thanks for all the help.

I hope you read all 15664 posts. You need to up your post/page so the page count isn't so high. If you want to know what's happening in MidCal MINIs or Custom Mini Shop, this is your thread.

I am happy to have finally got my MINI back tonight from East Bay as well. It took twelve days and four trips on the tow truck to be repaired. It went in for an engine knock when I started it in the morning. Thanks for the advice Dr. Steve and John. Went by Casa tonight, and guess I was late, didn't see anybody loitering in the parking lot.

Glad your car is finally back in one non knocking piece. We went for a spot of coffee at Starbucks sorry we missed you. Our Saturday Afternoon gathering at CMS is still an option.

So here is a portion of Obamas plan:

The budget accounts for a $33 billion tax cut that Obama wants Congress to include in a new jobs bill. It would give companies a $5,000 tax credit for each new worker they hire in 2010.

So Dr. Steve, would this pay for John's salary?

Hmmm, Workers comp. insurance would be more than that. And, since John bleeds as much as I do, the claims would bankrupt me.

A common problem with the R56. There's a whole thread on it somewhere here on NAM. It something to do with the timing chain tensioner if I remember correctly.
