A Big Thanks
Nice, did you fly the whole time, even over the airport? And they let you have a passenger?

Steve

Steve
Yesterday, I got to fly my first turbine helicopter, an EC120.
Heres a pic of me landing it at Torrance Airport.

All in all, I flew from Orange County Muni, to Torrance, to Hawthorne, to LAX, back to Torrance, then to Long Beach, and back to Orange.
Here are some shots from inside along the way:

And a video that my passenger took on my departure from LAX. 100 ft over 747s then down to the beach and 50' off the deck at 120 kts.

That was an amazing day.

yes we are home. Drove by CMS and already did our first mod
Can't do it
Pics will be coming
Yup. Only time I didn;t have controls was at first when we left orange before i had a chance to get used to it. Its a bit too much pressure to take off with 3 $20 million gulfstreams within 30 ft of the chopper.
And ya, I can carry passengers. I had 2 in the back at one point. I had to drop one off at torrence for a bit, which is why i flew back there.

Nicccceeee..... what a gorgeous color. It is a truly cool color. By that I mean refreshing and calming. The calm before the storm under the hood, right?
Now it is too hot to sleep in the garage (in the car) tonight. Do you have a sliding glass door to gain entry into your house.... big enough for the car?
Oh and we might have thunder and lightening, better leave a nite light on in the garage.
Congratulations! And sweet dreams for both of you.

Your pictures look awesome.
Congratulations Janet!!! Looks like an awesome car & I'm excited to hear about your drive back from Sacramento. The totally neat thing is you already modded your car! That's more than I can say for JIMINNImachine.

Blake, those are some great shots from you flight! What's it like to fly a turbine chopper?

Thanks
Its actually very similar to a piston one. Instead of keeping my power in check with a manifold pressure gauge, we use a torque gauge (to stay below 100%). The hydrolics and the clockwise rotating blade (most helicopters have a counter clockwise blade rotation) were the hardest part to get used to. Everything I was used to doing in the Robies was opposite in the Eurocopter because of the opposite blade direcion.

Janet congratulations at least any mod you put on your car Jim will have to leave alone for right now
Steve,
No "random misfires" yet....so maybe the plugs and wires did the job.
On the plus side it did seem to wake up the 'ol buggy....seems to spin up faster and pulls a lot stonger (at least thats what my butt dyno tells me.
)
Tires went on last week and the alignment was done yesterday.
I'll bring the before 'n after spec's with me on Saturday.

Hey All,
Wanted to let everyone know that KCEE 24 is going to be selling the CASA CORONA Gift Certificates again. (You can Buy a 50.00 gift certificate for $25.00). I purchased some the time before last. They come in two 25.00 gift certificates and you can use them towards everything, excluding tip. There is a 3.00 or so shipping charge each. The certificates go on sale tomorrow 6/19 at 6:55 am, but they do sell out quick. You can only buy them online at ksee.incentrev.com or KCEE24.com under the "Just pay 1/2" icon. Don't know if anyone is interested. Just wanted to spread the word.
See you all at the meeting!!!
Tina
