Real Football

People in the US know it as Soccer, but throughout the rest of the World it's know as Football. That's right, I'm calling it the real football in the heart of Buckeye Country in the middle of the state that is home of the (American) Football Hall of Fame.

On that note, is anyone here interested in playing pick-up soccer in the Columbus area? Or perhaps some of you already do, then can I join and where and when do you play? I know there is the CPL, but it's hard to get on a team if you don't know anyone, plus I wouldn't mind playing a couple times a week.

I can ask some of the little neighbor girls where they play, maybe they'll let you join in...

I'm totally kidding. I'm not a soccer fan, but do respect the amount of conditioning it must take to play the game. I know a few people at work who play, but I think most of them play in leagues.

Too far to drive

if I lived just 40 miles closer, I would be there in an instant! Alas, I'm a whopping 70 miles and that just won't work. *sigh*

I hope u can get a group together... America REALLY needs to learn this is not just a sport for kids. Then again our idea of pro sports typically revolves around 40 sec of energy followed by 3 min of standing...so the idea of moving for 40 min+ would be a bit itimidating! (*ducks head*)

Good luck!

Today I drove my purple car with a purple polo shirt on. One of my co-workers thought it was cute that I matched my car

I found a team in the 2nd division of the Columbus Premiere League. They're a great bunch of guys. We played our first game today (lost 8-5) against the divisions best team. Not too bad for our first outing. Man, those 45 minute halves seemed really long...

That's cool that you found a league to play in. We just joined the Y and I'm kind of dreading my first workout. We signed Lil' B.A.D. up for PeeWee Hockey, which should be very entertaining.

He is 3. Most of the classes for his age require a parent to be there as well, so I thought we would give this a shot and my wife is going to do a music class with him. I can't wait to see how they convince a class of 3 to 5 year olds to keep their sticks down. I think it will be fun to expose him to hockey without have the added complication of skating at his age.
