River Run 2008 is a go..... =)
Hello Motorer's,
The 2008 version of the River Run tour is a go.
If you liked driving in Amish country you'll love these roads.
Being held on the Saturday of Memorial day weekend has always meant very light traffic. Even though the flyer says 300 miles, in reality it will be closer to 200 miles. We measure the route on May 10th. I'll post an actual mileage then.
If you want to come & we hope you do please confirm with Eric Jones.

A Sports Car Driving Tour
Riverrun is a 300+ mile, all-day driving tour using some of Ohio’s most interesting and challenging roads. This year we’ll go southeast through the Hocking Hills to Pomeroy. After a meal at a local diner or a picnic on the riverbank (recommended), we’ll drive northeast along the Ohio River to the historic riverfront village of Little Hocking. There we’ll pick up the ever popular SR 555 to Zanesville and Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl.
Cars leave the Bob Evans at US 33 and Gender Road, near Canal Winchester, between 8 and 9 am. We should be at the Ohio River around noon and finish by 6 pm., depending on the time spent sightseeing. There is no fixed schedule nor any assigned speeds. This is a tour rather than a rally.
The Central Ohio British Car Club Council invites all driving enthusiasts, regardless of vehicle make, model or type, to join us on Riverrun 2008.
Call Eric Jones at (740) 363-2203 or e-mail rexkarrs@gmail.com to reserve your spot. There is a $5.00 fee to cover expenses. Any profit will be donated to Canine Companions; in 2007, we donated $200.

Like the Amish drive it is a self guided tour. People usually do the drive with a friend of two for company. How many MINI's are going? I know of 2.
IIRC last year there were something like 65 cars.

Just got back from pre-running River Run. What a great day it was for driving the back roads of southern Ohio.
We didn't take the MINI, we took Eric's STI. Man what power. After driving that all day my MINI feels so slow. The route is done & measured. All that needs to be done is to convert it from rally short hand to English.
If you plan on coming & we hope you do, you will need to reserve a spot.

I might come up from Cincinnati to do this. They've deemed fit to actually give me that Saturday off at work. Hopefully some others from the Cincinnati MINI Club will commit to go, or else that's going to be a bit of a long, lonely commute.

You'll be surprised at the different kinds of cars that come. If the weather is good I may drive the NOT N MG.
It looks like the scheduling gods don't want me to go on this run afterall. The MINI's going to be at the dealer's for (cosmetic) service, and it just wouldn't be the same doing the run in the gf's Civic. Maybe next year.
While I was at the car show yesterday, they called about installing our new carpet. Missy set it up for Saturday and then informed me that I need to be at home during the install, since she has to work
