MAG Caught on Fire...
A friend of Kara's who's husband works for MAG on the Audi side told her that MAG MINI caught on fire last night. No details yet o the extent of the damage, but it appears as if it happened after hours. Something about a battery left on a charger. More details when I get them. Sounds like everyone's OK...
Fire sale !!!
Free flames with every new MINI.
Glad no one was there to be hurt.

This is not MAG, but does show what happens when MINIs get hot.

I stopped at MAG today...
And was a bit taken back by the damage incurred during this unfortunate event. Apparently a faulty battery charger was placed on a MINI in the far East side of the showroom... it malfunctioned and the car caught fire... its still sitting there and is a total lose. I have witnessed several car fires along the expressways over the years and have noticed that they generate a huge amount of smoke. From the looks of MAG this event was no different the smoke damage was extensive.
For all intents and purposes their showroom will be out of commission for the next 60 days or so... they have moved their sales operation to the far West side of the BMW facility. They were scrambling today to get computers up and running and to continue to conduct business in a professional manor.
Fortunitly the good people across the street at Bob Evans noticed the fire and called the Fire Department... given that the heat was so intense it cracked the windows on the West side of the Showroom... and the fact that the MINI's gas-tank stayed intact... they are actually lucky because this could have easily burnt their entire facility to the ground.
On the bright side they seemed positive and are geared up to make lemonade out of the lemons they were handed... the Sales Manager said that perhaps on the bright side at least they'll end up with a remodeled and improved showroom... one has to admire the positive attitude.
I'll try to get over there on Monday and take some pictures perhaps we can add a MAG Before and After page to the new website?
Thanks,
Terry

Thanks for the info Terry.
All smart a$$ comments aside, I'm glad no one was injured & I'm glad your car wasn't there at the time.
A new better remodeled MINI dealership would be great. Can't wait for the grand re-opening party.

Someone should head to the show room, the Damage appears to be minimal to the show room, but that MINI is HOT!
On a side note, the clubman is fun to drive, may be a viable option for the futures wifes car

My wife and I dropped by this afternoon to look at a Clubman...it looked like they lost two cars in the showroom, a Clubman and a Cooper S. Mike O'Sullivan said there had been as many as five cars in the building earlier in the day, but three had been delivered before the fire.
Haha, yes as her car. Came back to this wonderful weather for the weekend. She is a leapee(i hear thats what they are being clalled). Depending on how you look at it, I may be a cradle robber. Came back just in time to see the fire. Back to work monday.

Hopefully the Hot Chocolate Clubman didn't become the Boiling Hot Chocolate Clubman.

Oh wait you meant as a car.
