URGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ipod interface :(

well here goes...I bought an ipod touch for b-day (I only get myself cool gifts...including mini in 03).

I then bought the mini interface stuff from another NAM member, good deal. I have spent most of day trying to rip apart mini to get to radio to attach/connect cable. I'm 6' which is not easy to crawl around inside, hence the YES I FIT plate. Even enlisted spawn Katie who does easily fit under dash and see wtf to pull....unsSUCKessfully. I now give up. I believe that my mini does not want to be "beautified" by ipod

I'm going with "headphone" option.

FOR SALE -------
1 ipod mini interface kit for sale, with handbook and instructions - make offer.

I don't think the word LAME is what I was shouting when ripping "knee bolster" off, it came off in two pieces not sure if that was supposed to happen

You have no idea how PO'd I am. I have hooked up computer networks and even installed stereo/speaker system into '85 Dodge Charger right after having wisdom teeth pulled....maybe hanging out with you guys has made me LAMEr then lame. That really should not be a bad thing. Then OSU loses, Kim having really bad day.

Glad to see CHKMINI is posting

Did you try to *just* remove the Stock head unit ?
( Sorry i haven't got any of the piece *yes* and haven't take ANYTHING inside the car apart so i'm asking out of ignorance and not trying to be a smartaXX )

Removed knee bolster and all torx screws that were relavent. Daughter aka "spawn" is 14 and tiny, she was able to see up inside console (behind head unit) without removing "down tubes" and middle console. We tried forever to pull out connector but we're unsuccessful. I still can't believe I missed the OSU game, but then again they lossed. Now knee bolster piece is on kitchen counter in two pieces, 1 part that clips to car and 2nd front piece that will have to be somehow glued back in order to cut down on vibration noise. Again why I say ARGH.. still no ipod connection!!!!! I read how it took about 45 miniutes to an hour to install.ARGH

Back on topic......

Hey Kim, you need to pull the radio, not the finger.

Bring the stuff down in December & we can do a ipod install tech session.

What's an ipod anywho????

I'm not sure my mini could take the onslaught of the silverbacks.

BTW - I'm still very angry... 5th "Old Speckled Hen" was finished off a while a go. I was the one to add surround sound to our house. I really think my mini is against the ipod...love Sirius radio and Howard.

Oh Kim please don't tell me you are one of those angry drunks.

I want you to get that podi hooked up. Then you can stop listening to the carp that Howierd spews.

Sorry, can't help you, I'm afraid... When I put my AUX adapter in, I just popped the knee bolster down and reached around to the back of the stereo and popped it in - took about 90 seconds.

Unless you REALLY must have the wheel controls, I'd just go for the AUX in. You can only make, what, 3 playlists for the MINI anyway I think... Seemed like a wonky interface setup when my friend told me about it - he hated it too and want with a straight AUX in a few months later.

If Santa has not brought you one, does that mean you have ended up on the BAD list??? I let you borrow mine but I'm not you'd like my song selections.

Thank you to all the wisdom of the ipod thingy. Decided to go with the AUX jack. Put car back together will buy aux jack and have some cool peeps I know install at December breakfast somewhere outside of Columbus. I think they meet at some Horny Tim's place.

I'm sure you have probably heard of this cable, but it makes a big difference in sound quality when using the AUX jack. It uses the iPod connector at the bottom instead of the headphone jack. I bought mine online but you can get one at Microcenter on Bethel.

If I can make it on Saturday you can check out the one I have.

I got one of those line out cables for my iPod and it made a big difference in sound quality. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with my iPhone and I suspect it will be the same for the Touch.

Hmm. So the Touch uses a different connector and dock than a regular iPod?

The iPhone is on the left, the Touch is on the right.
