Fun driving roads near Boston?

Hey everybody,

I'm the proud owner of a new-to-me 2010 Clubman S, and I'm interested in finding some fun local roads that will let me enjoy the new car more than, say, Route 128.

I live in Cambridge, so I'm looking for roads within maybe an hour's drive? Something twisty and (relatively) uncrowded would be great.

Thanks!

Check in at massmotoringclub.com if you haven't already. You should get lots of feedback there.

Re: roads -- I really enjoyed trekking out 113 to 119 (from Lowell into NH) a couple of weeks ago for Monadnock Berries. Looks like there may be a trip up to the Townsend State Forest coming up, too.

Bought this for drives in the Porsche but they'll work just as well for the MINI...

My wife and I have done several so far and find them a lot of fun.

For a quick fun jaunt I take rt225 from Bedford (stop at Kimball's Ice Cream in Carlisle) to Westford.

***Watch for a black and white on left about 1/2 mile from the ice cream stand***

Rt. 127, Beverly, through Beverly Farms, past Endicott college, up to Gloscester, is made for Minis. My first experience in a British import Mini, in 1977. Have fun!

I'll second that notion.

Thanks, all! I'll make sure to report back once I've gotten a chance to drive through some of these. It's looking like this weekend may not really be the optimal weekend for a drive, but hopefully I'll get out there soon.

+1 on motorcycleroads.etc

Also, if you happen find a heretofore unknown jewel of a road lurking in the backwoods, you can add it to the collection.

That looks like a good one, but unfortunately the timing's not good for me. Have fun!

There are a couple of roads off Jamaica Way in Roxbury that are twisty, and rather desolate for the Boston area, they all head towards Dedham, or back to Rt9 eventually.
